Sundberg and Zumerle the Fastest Drivers in Brno's Qualifying Practices

Peter Sundberg and Pietro Zumerle are the pole position drivers in the Trofeo Maserati GranTurismo MC fourth round qualifying practices in Brno, Czech Republic.

Peter Sundberg and Pietro Zumerle are the pole position drivers in the Trofeo Maserati GranTurismo MC fourth round qualifying practices in Brno, Czech Republic. Race 1 and race 2 are scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 1st of August, at 8:50 am (GMT) and 12.30 pm (GMT), respectively.

During the first 40’ of timed practices the Swedish standings leader, at his first pole position in the Trident championship, remained in front of Italian driver Paolo Necchi and Sergio Rota. At the start of race 2, Necchi and young Nicolò Piancastelli will start behind Zumerle, who earned pole position for the first time himself.

Rota was side by side with Zumerle in first row at the end of the second qualifying race when he was sent back five positions in the grid because he did not heed the checkered flag.

Peter Sundberg: “I’m satisfied with my first pole position because yesterday I didn’t run much in this track, which I was unfamiliar with. Tomorrow in race 1 I hope to finish first and to keep the leadership in the drivers’ standings”.

Pietro Zumerle: “I’m surprised by this result. In the first qualifying race I didn’t do very well, getting only the fourth best time, perhaps hampered a bit by the tires. I’ll try to get important pointers for race 2 in which I’ll surely have less to worry about as I’ll be starting off from first row”.

Qualifying 1
1 Peter Sundberg – 2:10.645
2 Paolo Necchi – 2:11.338
3 Sergio Rota – 2:11.963

Qualifying 2
1 Pietro Zumerle – 2:11.088
2 Paolo Necchi – 2.11.365
3 Nicolò Piancastelli – 2:11.526
