Silverstone (UK), 2 May 2009 - A good performance by the two Vitaphone Racing Team's Maserati MC12 in the first round of the FIA GT championship: Andrea Bertolini and Alex Mueller respectively got second and third place during Saturday's qualifying practices.

The current champion was the protagonist of an excellent race which will enable him to start off from the first row, flanked by his ex partner (JMB Racing, 2005) Karl Wendlinger. The Austrian took full advantage of his car's potential: thanks to much more generous restrictor plates than those in the Maserati, he managed to get a time that nobody was able to beat.

Completing the good qualifying performance of the Maseratis, the other MC12, no. 2, driven by Alex Mueller, confirmed the result obtained during that morning's free practices.

Andrea Bertolini: "I'm happy to get second place, I think it's a good qualifying. We've worked hard these past two days, trying our best to improve the set-up in view of the race, aiming for consistency. We are confident in our performance tomorrow".

Race: Sunday 3 May, 14.15 - 16.15 (local time)
