Modena, 20 March 2026 – The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello is due to host the Maserati GT2’s first endurance race, taking place at the 12H Mugello, from 20 to 22 March, in round 1 of the Michelin 24H SERIES Europe. This format of endurance races includes a calendar with rounds on the main European tracks and sees prestigious brands compete (with a Middle East session also taking place on circuits there).
It will be Maserati's debut race in 2026, the year of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the first time a car raced bearing the Trident logo on its bonnet, back in 1926 when the Targa Florio ended with a class victory for the Maserati Tipo 26.
At Mugello, the Maserati GT2 will be driven on the track by the Dinamic Motorsport Team, lining up the close-knit duo of Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini, to whom Amedeo Pampanini has now also been added. Mauro and Roberto played a leading role back in the 2025 season, again in a car from the House of the Trident, in the Pro Am class of the GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli. Last season, the crew finished third in the drivers’ standings (second among the teams) courtesy of three pole positions, the same number of victories, four runner-up places and three times on the bottom step of the podium. The Swiss/Italian pair also made a few appearances in the 2024 season, including a win in Barcelona.
Alongside Mauro Calamia, Amedeo and Roberto Pampanini will be entered in the 12H Mugello in the GTX class, in a race split into two sections: after the qualifiers on Friday 20 March, the first part is scheduled for Saturday from 12:10 to 17:40, resuming with part 2 on Sunday from 12:00 to 18:30.
The House of the Trident is therefore returning to racing on the Tuscan track after years of absence, with the desire to leave its mark as did the glorious Maserati MC12 in the FIA GT championship in the 2000s. In more recent years, the Mugello circuit has also hosted rounds of the Trofeo Maserati, the Modena-based manufacturer's one-make series, where Mauro Calamia won the 2014 edition.
After entering the GT2 championship in 2023 and appearing in the 2024 Ultimate Cup Series, the Maserati GT2's boundaries are expanding. Thanks to the upgrade kit, the car can now also race in endurance trials, with the option to take part in over 20 series and more than 170 races per year.
