Amidst intense emotions, heart-pounding thrills, and unprecedented turnout, the 43rd Rally Due Valli proved an unforgettable weekend for Lancia, which dazzled Verona with the second stage of the Trofeo Lancia during the fourth round of the Italian Absolute Rally Championship (CIAR SPARCO). Across two exhilarating days, the new Ypsilon Rally4 HF took on one of the most technical routes on the national stage, spanning eight special stages and covering over 105 competitive kilometers on tarmac.
24 crews behind the wheel of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF—including 19 Under-35 drivers—set the Verona streets ablaze while competing for both the podium and a place in the official ERC 2026 team. From the shakedown in Alcenago to iconic stages like “Erbezzo”, “San Francesco”, and “Cappella Fasani”, the young talents wowed the crowd, showcasing the balance, reliability, and performance that set the Ypsilon Rally4 HF apart among two-wheel-drive cars.
The second round of the Trofeo Lancia cup saw the 23-year-old Davide Pesavento and his co-driver Lorenzo Mattucci triumph after they took the lead at the end of the second special stage. From then on, the Balt Motorsport crew held off all challengers and went on a run of victories. With a win in the Trofeo Lancia, Pesavento also came out on top of the Two-Wheel Drive Italian Championship and Under 25 category, as well as securing victory amongst Trofeo Lancia Junior drivers and topping it all off with a Best Performer award. After more than an hour of racing, just 5 seconds separated Pesavento-Mattucci from Gianandrea Pisani and Nicola Biagi, the winners of the Targa Florio. The latter did well to make a comeback following a tough start, going on to once again claim victory in the Master category. With a late surge in the final special stage, the duo came out victorious in the Miki Stage as well. Third place overall went to Nicolò Ardizzone and Valentina Pisani, who placed second in the Junior category after a strong performance that helped them overcome the setbacks of the first round.
In the Junior Category, Pesavento came out on top, followed by Ardizzone and Doretto, with the latter co-driven by Samuele Pellegrino. Meanwhile, the Master category was led by Pisani, triumphing over the Austrian team of Michael Lengauer and Rausch Jürgen, who edged out third-place finishers Andrea Mazzocchi and Nicolò Gonella in a photo finish. Denis Vigliaturo and Ermanno Corradini followed up their performance in Sicily with a second Expert victory, overcoming the Polish team of Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek. Meanwhile, third place went to Vasco Lanfranchi and Matteo Lullo, who outdueled Emanuele Fiore and Andrea Casalini in an intense battle for third place.
The Trofeo Lancia leaderboard is still topped by Pisani, who holds just an 8.5-point lead over Pesavento, with Giorgio Cogni sitting in third. In the Junior category, Pesavento sits above Gabriel di Pietro, who had a tough Due Valli, and Ardizzone, who climbed the table thanks to the day’s result. The Master category is still led by Pisani, who extended his lead to 19.5 points over Giorgio Cogni and 29.5 points over Igor Iani. Vigliaturo has a commanding lead in the Expert category, increasing his gap over Fiore to 19.5 points, with third place now in possession of Mauro Porzia.
The event highlighted the race-readiness and technical sophistication of the new model, which now dominates the Rally4 standings and Two-Wheel Drive Italian Championship leaderboard. The Turin-based manufacturer secured the top two podium positions and placed in eight out of the first 10 positions. This successful project was an instant hit among many drivers and racing teams —selling over 90 models within just four months of its launch. In particular, the high-octane Rally Due Valli showcased the dynamic behavior of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF, which set itself apart early on in testing thanks to its perfect balance of power and traction, responsiveness in changing directions, and stability at high speeds. Equipped with a 212-hp 1.2 Turbo engine, a SADEV 5-speed gearbox, and adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers, the punchy Ypsilon Rally4 HF has proven to be the ideal car for emerging drivers looking to cut their teeth—evidenced by the many Under-35 participants in the Trofeo Lancia—while also offering seasoned competitors with a high-performance vehicle which is capable of winning.
In short, it was an unforgettable weekend for Lancia thanks to the performance of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF, the competitiveness of the race teams, and the turnout at the Lancia Corse HF Village at Veronafiere, which blended the brand’s past, present, and future into an engaging and immersive experience. Thousands of visitors had the chance to test out the New Ypsilon for themselves, in hybrid or 100% electric versions, and admire two rally icons from the Eighties and Nineties—the Delta Integrale and the 037—and the brand-new 280-hp Ypsilon HF. The latter is the 100% electric, 280-hp, high-performance road version which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and features superior agility thanks to its mechanical limited-slip differential. It is set to debut at the end of June in Balocco, where it will take part in the first tests in front of the press. Lastly, fans greatly enjoyed the entertainment activities and meet-and-greet with the Lancia Corse HF drivers and technical staff, making the weekend all the more special.
The next stage for the Trofeo Lancia is set for July 4-6 at the Rally Roma Capitale, which will allow the trofeisti to compete in an FIA ERC international round. After the summer break, the single-brand cup will proceed to the Rally del Lazio (September 13-14) before the grand finale held at the historic Rallye Sanremo (October 17-18).
