- The new Lancia Gamma was presented yesterday in Rome at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, in the presence of Minister Adolfo Urso, President of the Basilicata Region Vito Bardi, Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis Enlarged Europe COO, and Antonella Bruno, Managing Director of Stellantis.
- Designed, developed and produced at Stellantis’ Melfi plant, Gamma marks a new milestone in Lancia’s evolution during the year of the brand’s 120th anniversary.
- The event also provided an opportunity to discuss Stellantis’ industrial strategy in Italy and the conditions needed to strengthen the competitiveness of the European automotive industry.
- With Gamma, Melfi further strengthens its industrial role, combining technology, manufacturing expertise and a supply chain involving around thirty Italian suppliers, approximately ten of them based in Basilicata.
The new Lancia Gamma took center stage yesterday at an institutional presentation held at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, a particularly significant venue for a project rooted in Italian design engineering and manufacturing excellence.
The meeting was attended by Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Vito Bardi, President of the Basilicata Region, Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis Enlarged Europe COO, and Antonella Bruno, Managing Director of Stellantis Italy.
The presentation was an opportunity to explore Gamma’s contribution to Lancia’s evolution and, more broadly, Italy’s role within Stellantis’ industrial strategy in the country.
Designed in Turin at the Lancia Design Center, developed and industrialized in Italy, and manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, Gamma is the result of a network of expertise involving designers, engineers, technicians, plant operators and suppliers.
With the arrival of the new Lancia model, alongside the Jeep Compass, DS N°8 and DS N°7, Melfi further confirms the Group’s ability to transform Italian expertise and technology into products destined for international markets.
“The new Lancia Gamma is tangible proof of the role that Italy continues to play in Stellantis’ industrial strategy. Melfi presents a valuable asset in terms of expertise, technology and quality, just like our other Italian plants. However, the future of the European automotive industry will also depend on the decisions we make today: we need regulations capable of restoring competitiveness to the sector by supporting Made in Europe, compact vehicles and light commercial vehicles. Stellantis is doing its part, and Gamma is concrete evidence of that commitment”, said Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis Enlarged Europe COO.
An Italian Project, from Turin to Melfi
Gamma’s Italian identity runs through every stage of the vehicle’s creation process.
The design was developed in Turin at the Lancia Design Center led by Gianni Colonello, Head of Lancia Design. Development and industrialization were also carried out in Italy, while production has been entrusted to the Stellantis plant in Melfi.
The project also involves approximately thirty Italian suppliers, around ten of which are based in Basilicata, further strengthening the link between the product, the manufacturing plant and the local supply chain.
This journey continues all the way to the customer through the Lancia network in Italy, which is preparing to welcome Gamma and deliver an experience fully aligned with the brand’s positioning and values.
“Gamma represents a fundamental milestone in Lancia’s evolution and takes on even greater significance in the year in which we celebrate the brand’s 120th anniversary. It is an Italian project in the fullest sense of the term: it begins with design in Turin, progresses through development and industrialization, and takes shape in Melfi thanks to the expertise and dedication of the women and men, who work there every day. With Gamma, we aim to transform design, quality, industrial capabilities and Italy’s project-driven culture into a tangible source of competitiveness, both in Italy and across European markets”, stated Antonella Bruno Managing Director of Stellantis Italy.
Gamma expands the Lancia universe
Following the launch of the new Ypsilon and the return of the HF badge and motorsport activities, Gamma broadens Lancia’s product offering and brings the brand back into a strategic market segment.
The new 4.67-meter fastback crossover, built on the STLA Medium platform, will be available with both Hybrid and fully electric powertrains. The Hybrid version will offer a total driving range of more than 1,000 km, while the electric versions will deliver up to approximately 740 km of range. A 375 hp all-wheel-drive version will also be introduced at the top of the range.
Gamma will enable Lancia to significantly expand its customer base, with a balanced mix of private and business customers as a key objective. It confirms Italy as the brand’s core market while supporting a clear European growth ambition.

Lancia
With 119 years of history, Lancia is one of the most iconic names in Italian motoring. Long synonymous with elegance, innovation and distinctive character, the brand has created models that have become part of the collective imagination, from the Aurelia B24 Spider to the Flaminia, from the Fulvia to the Beta HPE, and on to the Stratos, 037 and Delta, which wrote some of the most memorable chapters in motorsport history.
Today, Lancia is entering a new phase in its journey, built on a strong Italian identity and a contemporary vision of the brand. The new Ypsilon marked the beginning of this chapter, followed by the brand’s official return to rallying and the arrival of the new Gamma, designed, developed and built in Italy at the Stellantis plant in Melfi. Design, innovation, customer experience and a strong focus on sustainability are driving Lancia’s evolution, with the ambition of reinterpreting for today the values that have always defined the brand’s unique character.
