- After announcing its participation in the 1000 Miglia 2024, Lancia today revealed the crews who will be driving the New Lancia Ypsilon Cassina, as a ‘support car’ during the event.
- Representatives of Lancia brand, as well as internationally renowned journalists, will be driving the first car in the brand new era.
- The New Lancia Ypsilon will be taking part in the 1000 Miglia alongside the 1951 Aurelia B20 GT, driven by the iconic rally driver Miki Biasion and the Italian journalist Savina Confaloni.
- The New Lancia Ypsilon will be traveling through Italy the week after the race begins, on the days the model becomes available in the 160 Italian dealerships that have been revamped with the new Corporate Identity, supported by Lancia's dedicated and certified new sales force.
- The New Lancia Ypsilon is available with both 100% electric and a hybrid engine, in three different trims: a straightforward line-up with mid-market price positioning, benefiting in full from current government incentives.
“After announcing its participation in the 1000 Miglia 2024 and the presence of Miki Biasion aboard the Aurelia B20GT, Lancia today revealed the names of the crews on board of the New Lancia Ypsilon. The event will serve as a major staging for the model, crossing Italy from Brescia to Turin, Viareggio, Rome and Bologna, on the same days the first cars will be delivered to end customers. The model will be driven by brand representatives who contributed to the creation of the first car in the brand new era, alongside internationally renowned journalists from the countries where Lancia will be making its return,” stated Charles Fuster, Lancia Head of Marketing and Communication.
After a six-year break, Lancia is back to take part in the 1000 Miglia 2024, the historical re-enactment of the “most beautiful race in the world” as Enzo Ferrari loved to call it. In a symbolic passing of the baton between past and future, this year the brand is fielding a black 1951 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT with the number 196 and, alongside the New Lancia Ypsilon Cassina as a support car.
Driving Nuova Lancia Ypsilon Cassina will be representatives of Lancia brand such as Gianni Colonello, Head of Lancia Design, and Paolo Loiotile, Head of Lancia Product.
The first car of the brand new era will feature a body in Lancia Blue shade, a historic color for the brand. It will make its appearance around the same time the first deliveries are made to dealers throughout Italy, when customers will be able to drive the cars. The new showrooms have now become real boutiques, where everything is ready to welcome customers in and offer them an experience made up of beauty, design, and the Italian spirit, just like in an elegant Italian home. These new dedicated Lancia spaces will make it possible to enjoy a new, increasingly exclusive purchase experience. Part of the responsibility lies with the renewed sales force, made up of dedicated and certified Lancia salespeople, for a premium and immersive purchase experience.
The Lancia Aurelia B20 GT will be driven by Miki Biasion alongside journalist Savina Confaloni. Miki Biasion – one of the greatest and most successful rally drivers of all time – is a major figure in Lancia history of motorsport, having twice taken the Lancia Delta to victory, winning the 1988 and 1989 World Rally titles, thus helping to make Lancia the most successful brand of all time in rally competitions.
The 42nd 1OOO Miglia will take the start from Brescia on June 11, to return there on June 15, with stops in Turin, Viareggio, Rome, and Bologna. Always part race and part adventure, the competition was held as a speed race between 1927 and 1957, then became a regularity race from 1977, in which the only cars permitted are those that ran in the competitive events and were produced in the same period.
The New Lancia Ypsilon electric will participate as part of Quattroruote fleet in the sixth edition of the 1000 Miglia Green, the prestigious regularity race reserved for 100% electric cars. With a route of 1800 kilometers, the competition will start and end in Brescia, passing through cities such as Bergamo, Turin, Genoa, Rome, and many others.
