  • The oldest European classic car show will take place from February 1st to 5th in Paris.
  • Lancia will be there with the unrivaled Rally 037, which won the World Rally exactly 40 years ago.
  • Lancia supports the “Lancia Classiche” program to promote the originality and authenticity of its own historical vehicles.

"Lancia is a progressive-classic brand which aims to become desirable, credible and respected in the European premium segment, leveraging on more than 116 years of history and iconic vehicles which made the history of the automotive industry, both in Italy and in the world. The 037, together with the Stratos and the Delta, are brutal and record-breaking Rally vehicles which won more titles than anyone else in the automotive world. These race cars, together with the beautiful flagships models, like Flaminia and Aurelia, inspired us to design the vehicles of the future and meet the challenges of the new era of electric mobility. This is where the “Lancia Classiche” program comes in. With this initiative, the brand shows its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the originality and authenticity of the icons of its glorious past,” stated Lancia Brand CEO, Luca Napolitano.

The 47th edition of Rétromobile, the oldest and most prestigious European classic car show, will take place from February 1st to 5th in the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The prestigious French event will have more than 1,000 vehicles on display and host over 600 international exhibitors and nearly 130,000 visitors. Lancia could not miss the opportunity to be present at this event with the Stellantis Heritage department. Founded in 2015 with the goal of protecting and promoting the historic heritage of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth, it carries out its mission through the participation at events and the offering of services dedicated to fans and owners of classic cars from the Group’s Italian car brands.

Lancia Rally 037, the aggressive and minimalist style of the 1983 World Rally champion
Featured by “functional” and sharp forms, both in the front and in the rear, the Lancia Rally 037, better known with its project code, “037”, is a pure sporty car which embodies David famous victory over Goliath. The Lancia Rally 037 was the last two-wheel-drive vehicle to win the World Rally Championship in 1983, against powerful, all-wheel-drive opponents.
Based on the Beta Montecarlo, the Lancia Rally 037 was not designed to be produced in large numbers as the road model was strictly needed to enter into the world of Rally. Introduced in 1982 at the Turin Motor Show, it was produced in 200 units to get access to Group B, but only 53 of them were outfitted for competition.

It made its debut at the Rally Costa Smeralda in April 1982 and officially competed in the 1983 season with the official “Lancia Martini Racing” team livery. 037 dominated the World Championship from its first race and won the Monte Carlo with Walter Röhrl in the driver’s seat. At the end of the season, despite strong competition from the new all-wheel-drive Audi Quattro, Lancia won the World Constructors’ Championship and got second in the Drivers’ World Championship and the European and Italian Championships.
Equipped with a four-cylinder, double-shaft injection engine, from 260 to 305 HP based on the engine capacity (from 1995 to 2111 cc), the Rally 037 turned out to be a light, agile, high-performing vehicle with superior road grip and handling. This was also made possible thanks to its original hybrid, monocoque, and tubular structure “suited up” by the Pininfarina workshop, which developed an aggressive and elegant body with a significant aerodynamic load to the ground. To reach maximum efficiency, it was made in polyester with fiberglass reinforcements and the bonnet and boot lid could be detached very quickly. The minimalist and rational interiors were essential for the competition. Plus, it had a few aerodynamic “adds on”, including an eye-catching rear spoiler, which made it even more impressive.

Lancia Classiche Heritage Program, one-of-a-kind certificates and services
The 47th edition of Rétromobile is an opportunity for Lancia to support the “Lancia Classiche” heritage program, an array of services to protect and promote the originality and authenticity of the brand historic vehicles. The certification committee is led by the Lancia brand CEO and the head of the Heritage department, where all production registers and all technical documentation used by the commission to analyze the information on the inspected vehicles resides.
The Lancia Classiche heritage program is formed by two certificates: a Certificate of Origin and Authenticity, and the Restoration Service.

“Certificate of Origin”. Lancia offers the opportunity to discover the history of each car through its chassis number. The service provides an accurate document review at the brand's production registers and the issue of a certificate certifying the year of production of the car and the original configuration: model specifications, engine serial number, original exterior and interior details.
"Certificate of Authenticity". After analyzing the historic car in detail and verifying its production data and technical specifications at the company archives, Lancia, with the support of the Heritage department and some experts, the authenticity of the classic car will be certified. To obtain this certification each car goes through a rigorous inspection and evaluation process which is carried out by the specialized team, verifying the authenticity of the car and its components and the functionality of the main mechanical parts.
"Restoration service". The same team that takes care of the Lancia historical collection is available forprivate clients, with services ranging from simple maintenance to complete restoration: from diagnosis to exterior restoration, repair of individual mechanical and aesthetic components, and final testing.
