Four Lancia entries set for WRC EKO Acropolis Rally Greece challenge

• Yohan Rossel, currently second in the WRC2 standings, aims to reclaim the championship lead from team-mate Nikolay Gryazin aboard the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale
• Three additional Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale cars entered for Léo Rossel, Pablo Sarrazin and Conner Martell
• 323 kilometres of demanding Greek gravel stages and extreme temperatures await competitors in round eight of the FIA World Rally Championship
   

When it comes to gravel rallies, few events are as iconic as Acropolis Rally Greece. Seventy years of history on the rugged Greek roads have made the event one of the defining rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship and a cornerstone of Lancia’s rally heritage. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the legendary Lancia Delta dominated the demanding Greek stages, building a legacy that remains deeply associated with the “Rally of the Gods”.

Now, in a modern era of the Acropolis Rally Greece, Lancia returns with an impressive four-car presence, fielding four Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale entries in round eight of the WRC2 season.

Leading the charge for WRC2 Teams’ Championship leader Lancia Corse HF will be Yohan Rossel and co-driver Arnaud Dunand. The Frenchman, a three-time WRC2 podium finisher in Greece, arrives determined to reclaim the lead of the drivers’ standings after team-mate Nikolay Gryazin moved ahead following his victory at Rally Japan.

The Acropolis Rally will also mark the arrival of Léo Rossel to the Lancia family with the 2C Junior Team. Co-driven by Guillaume Mercoiret, Léo currently sits level on points with his brother Yohan on 52 championship points, setting the stage for a fascinating intra-family battle on identical machinery across the 323 competitive kilometres of Greek gravel.

Completing the line-up for the French-based 2C Junior Team will be American driver Conner Martell, partnered by Italian co-driver Alessandro Gelsomino, while the fourth Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale will be entrusted to rising talent Pablo Sarrazin and co-driver Yannick Roche.

Acropolis Rally Greece gets underway on Thursday 25 June with the spectacular Super Special Stage at the Ellinikon Sports Centre in Athens. The head-to-head format is expected to provide an exciting opening show for the Greek fans before crews board an overnight ferry transfer to Itea.

Friday’s itinerary features six special stages, with only the Stiri stage remaining unchanged from last year’s route. Fast sections, constantly evolving road conditions and surfaces that become increasingly rough and rutted with every passing car will pose a significant challenge. Temperatures are expected to exceed 40°C, adding further pressure to both crews and machinery.

Saturday brings another six special stages covering 108 competitive kilometres, while Sunday’s final leg consists of four stages and 84 kilometres against the clock. In total, competitors will face 17 special stages and 323 kilometres of competitive action.

In one of the toughest rallies on the WRC calendar, tyre management, mechanical preservation and physical endurance will be crucial factors in the battle for victory on the unforgiving roads of the legendary “Rally of the Gods.”.
