Yohan Rossel and co-driver Arnaud Dunand have firmly found their winning form in the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale. Following their triumph at Rally Croatia, the 31-year-old Frenchman doubled up with another commanding performance on the demanding stages of Rally Islas Canarias, round five of the FIA World Rally Championship.

Rossel’s victory was built early in the event, as he steadily extended his advantage over his closest rivals on Friday, highlighted by a run of five consecutive stage wins. In total, he claimed 6 fastest times across the rally’s 18 stages, securing the WRC2 championship lead with a performance of the highest calibre.

Saturday presented the typical mixed conditions of the Spanish event, with rain and slippery surfaces alternating with sunshine, heat and the abrasive asphalt characteristic of the volcanic island. Rossel and Dunand managed the challenges to perfection, with spot-on setup and tyre choices allowing Lancia Corse HF to bring the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale back to the top step of the podium.

A solid performance also came from Nikolay Gryazin and co-driver Konstantin Aleksandrov. The crew lost ground early after suffering understeer in SS5, but mounted an impressive recovery drive. Gryazin fought back strongly through the second leg, climbing the order to finish Saturday just outside the top five, while also showcasing strong pace with a stage win.

Thanks to the performances of both crews, Lancia Corse HF further consolidates its lead in the WRC2 Teams’ standings. The championship now heads to Rally Portugal in two weeks’ time, where the action will resume.

Roberta Zerbi – CEO Lancia
This victory by Yohan is a source of great pride for Lancia and confirms the competitiveness of the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale in the WRC2 championship. It reflects an outstanding team effort and sends a strong signal about our return to the highest levels of rallying. It is also incredibly rewarding to see the passion and enthusiasm of Lancia fans, whose energy makes moments like this even more special

Yohan Rossel – Official WRC2 Driver, Lancia Corse HF
It’s a great feeling to be back winning after Croatia. Honestly, everything was perfect—from tyre choice to the car setup. We can be really happy with the work of the team and my co-driver; they did an excellent job. On the second day we pushed the car to the limit, then tried to manage the pace, but it wasn’t easy because the fight for second place was very intense and everyone was pushing hard. Now the target is the same for Portugal—same ambition. We can be very pleased with this result”.

Nikolay Gryazin – Official WRC2 Driver, Lancia Corse HF
“Overall, a frustrating but also positive weekend in Canarias. The technical issues cost us a lot, but we showed strong pace with a stage win and kept fighting until the end. P6 is not our target, but considering the circumstances, we take the points and the lessons. Congratulations to Yohan Rossel, he drove a very smart and fast rally and deserved the win. We’ll work hard with the team and aim higher at the next event”.
