  • FCA Poland is the largest of the 13 companies of the FCA Group in Poland, and its Tychy plant is among the most modern car factories in the world. In 2018 a total of 259,448 Fiat, Abarth and Lancia cars left FCA Poland's production lines

On 18 November 2019 FCA Poland celebrated the production of the 12-millionth jubilee car, a red Fiat 500. Three days before, the 500-thousand white Lancia Ypsilon LPG version left the production line of the Tychy plant. After that in 2018, the 2-millionth Fiat 500 left the production line.

Within 27 years (1992 - 2019), the FCA Group invested more than 2.5 billion € to modernize plant infrastructure, create a new welding plant equipped with robotic production lines, a new waterborne paint shop, and a new car assembly hall. This investment also affected research and development work, improved working conditions, made it possible to organize training, introduced environmental protection solutions and adjusted production and operations to global standards. The plant in Tychy is constantly looking for innovative solutions and is working on improving work organization. One of the important elements influencing the development is the Plant Academy - a project aimed at developing practical technical skills and leadership of employees. It is one of the few companies in the world to have reached the golden level of World Class Manufacturing - an integrated methodology of enterprise management.

The cars manufactured in Tychy have been at the top of the reliability rankings for years, and as many as two models - Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 - have been awarded the Car of The Year title.

The beginning of the automotive industry in Silesia is considered to be 1971 when the first Syrena models came off the assembly lines of FSM (Fabryka Samochodow Małolitrażowych ) in Bielsko-Biała. After the purchase of a licence from Fiat in 1973 by the Polish government, the production of the first "Toddlers", as the Fiat 126p were commonly called, started in the factory in Bielsko-Biała. In 1975 a modern production plant was established in Tychy, which produced this cult model, the ownership of which was a status symbol in Polish society at that time.

For 27 years, between 1973 and 2000, the Tychy and Bielsko-Biała factories produced a total of 3,318,674 of Fiat 126p. In 1991 the production of Fiat Cinquecento began in Tychy, and in 1997 the Fiat Seicento.  In the meantime - in 1992 - an agreement was concluded with the Italian Fiat, which resulted in the establishment of Fiat Auto Poland. Under a new name the plant produced and assembled such  models as: Cinquecento, Uno,  Punto,  Bravo, Brava, Marea, Ducato, Iveco, Seicento, Siena, Palio Weekend, Panda, Fiat and Abarth 500, and beginning 2011 - Lancia Ypsilon.  In addition, FCA also produced on behalf of Ford one of its models, Ford KA, in Tychy from 2008 to 2016 (514 288 units).
