FCA’s Verrone plant awarded WCM Gold

FCA's manufacturing operations have marked another important milestone with the transmission plant in Verrone (Italy) achieving WCM Gold level.

FCA's manufacturing operations have marked another important milestone with the transmission plant in Verrone (Italy) achieving WCM Gold level. The objective of the WCM (World Class Manufacturing) program implemented by FCA globally is to eliminate all forms of waste throughout the production process.

The Verrone plant produces and supplies the C635 series transmissions - used on various FCA models including the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X and Alfa Romeo 4C - to other Group plants in Europe and abroad.

The WCM program involves all of the approximately 600 employees at the plant. It also covers all areas of production: from proactive management of safety, to the environment and biodiversity, materials management (planning, sourcing and processing customer orders) and optimization of the plant's internal layout to enhance overall flexibility.

Due to the level of skill and involvement of personnel, the Verrone plant has reduced manufacturing costs by more than 7% per annum. In addition, there have been no workplace accidents at the plant since 2010 and the quality index has improved by 73% over the same period.

Verrone joins the list of plants that have already achieved WCM Gold, including Pomigliano (Italy), Bursa (Turkey), Tychy (Poland) and Bielsko Biala (Poland).
