  • A prestigious new collaboration for Stellantis, presenting its corporate strategy in terms of sustainable mobility at the first edition of the “Verde Giffoni, Youth for the Present” initiative (April 27th to 30th): four days focused on safeguarding the Planet, with the involvement of Generation Z and a link to the internationally renowned Giffoni Film Festival
  • The event took place on Friday, April 29th, with over 400 young people who met with representatives of major companies, including Stellantis, to discuss sustainability and respect for the environment

“Generation Z, keyword: Sustainability”, the meeting promoted by the Giffoni Innovation Hub (GIH) as part of the first edition of Verde Giffoni, Youth for the Present, a new event co-financed by the Italian Ministry of Culture, held on April 29th at the Multimedia Valley in Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno, Italy). The day of face-to-face meetings and live streaming offered the opportunity for more than 400 under-30s to discuss the topic of sustainability and all its facets: economic, social and environmental. GIH styles itself as an interface between the young people of Generation Z, companies, and institutions, offering all the tools they need to face one of the great challenges of the future: to change their habits and help create a new societal model that can mitigate climate change.

Taking part in the event was the Stellantis e-Mobility Business Unit, whose work fits perfectly into the framework of Verde Giffoni, Youth for the Present. Since its establishment more than a year ago, Stellantis – with its iconic brands and portfolio of cutting-edge products and services – has immediately set itself as a promoter of solutions for clean, connected, accessible and safe mobility, to meet customer requirements and maintain sustainability from both an environmental and economic point of view. In his presentation to Generation Z, Gabriele Catacchio – Global Head of e-Mobility Communications – emphasized that Stellantis and its very broad range, from the small Citroën AMI (even suitable for 14-year-olds!) to the powerful Maserati MC20, intends to lead the way the world moves, by adopting diversified electric powertrain solutions. The aim is to slow down climate change and contribute to the preservation of the Planet for future generations.

Stellantis e-Mobility participation in Verde Giffoni, Youth for the Present adds an important piece to the mosaic of its work to educate the new generations on the issues of electrification, a key strategy to help achieve the Carbon Neutrality target for 2038, as announced by the Group CEO Carlos Tavares at the presentation of the long-term strategic plan, Dare Forward 2030. The goals at Stellantis e-Mobility include promoting a culture related to electric mobility among young people, and benefiting from constant discussion with them to gather ideas on how Generation Z currently experiences mobility and expects to in the future. In only two years, this field of its work has involved 13,000 students from across Europe and has given rise to major partnerships with prestigious institutions and international partners. All this cooperation is helping the e-Mobility team to strengthen its work in the development of new services to support customers who choose to drive electric. Examples include the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) project, a two-way charging system whereby battery-powered vehicles can release energy to the national grid, with direct financial benefits for car owners, plus the Arena del Futuro (‘Arena of the Future’) project, a world first involving the wireless charging of electric vehicles as they travel, currently being studied on a private stretch of the A35 BreBeMi autostrada in Northern Italy in conjunction with prestigious international partners.

The Stellantis strategic plan envisages sales in Europe of electric vehicles alone by 2030 and the elimination of emissions by 2038. For this to happen, a vital contribution needs to be made by the new generations, which are already instilled with an awareness of the requirements for the energy transition and of the application of circular economy models. Stellantis is working hard on these models, for example to provide a sustainable future for electric vehicle batteries at the end of their lifespan. This approach is extended to the entire value chain of its products.

Hence the practicality of events like this one organized by the Giffoni Innovation Hub, styled as a forum for meetings and exchanges between the various stakeholders in the transition, and as a catalyst for positive energy.
