For the first time in its history, the Miami International Circuit hosted the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on Saturday for round three of Season 12. With its all-electric single-seaters lining up in 5th and 10th positions on the grid, DS Automobiles and PENSKE AUTOSPORT had an excellent opportunity to continue their points haul. The outright performance of the DS E-TENSE FE25 was much in evidence throughout the day, with Taylor Barnard setting fastest time in the second free practice session.

However, rain before the start of the race altered everything. Faced with changing weather conditions, all the teams were forced to take risks with car setups and race strategies.

Despite the strong potential shown up to that point, the DS Automobiles drivers endured a turbulent E-Prix. In very tricky conditions, Taylor Barnard eventually crossed the finish line in 14th place, while Maximilian Günther took the flag in 19th.

The DS PENSKE team is determined to bounce back from America with the focus already on the next E-Prix, scheduled for February 13-14 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The objective for this double-header will be to get back on track and confirm the level of performance with a first podium of the season.

Maximilian Günther:

“This is obviously not the result we were hoping for. We took a risk with the car setup and it did not pay off. We lacked the grip to be competitive, and that’s frustrating because we showed very strong pace in dry conditions. In fact, I felt particularly confident during the second free practice session and in qualifying, which proves that we did very good work before the race. So there are definitely some positives to take away from this weekend. Now it’s all about Jeddah, where we took our first victory with DS Automobiles last year.”

Taylor Barnard :

“It’s obviously disappointing tonight because everyone was hoping for a better result. However, we need to stay positive and build on what we did well this weekend. We arrived in Miami with a very competitive package, which allowed us to fight at the front of every session before the E-Prix. Even though we were clearly missing something in the actual race, we worked well throughout the weekend as a whole. Now it's down to us to understand exactly what happened and bounce back for the rest of the season.”

Key figures since DS Automobiles entered Formula E:

  • 140 races
  • 4 championship titles
  • 18 victories
  • 55 podiums
  • 26 pole positions
