  • Long-standing official partner of Chantilly Arts & Élégance since 2015, DS Automobiles will once again be in the Château de Chantilly gardens on 25th September for the sixth running of an event that has become a firm favourite among prestige car lovers.
  • DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE and a related design by the fashion house Nicha will be taking part in the Concours d’Élégance.

  • Activities showcasing the unique expertise of the Brand will be displayed to visitors.

DS Automobiles will be taking part in the most prestigious Concours d’Élégance organised in France. Already among the award winners in 2016 with DS E-TENSE and Eymeric François, the brand is returning with DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE and a design by Nicha.

DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE AT THE CONCOURS D’ÉLÉGANCE

Designed as a high-performance laboratory, DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE was created by DS PERFORMANCE after winning two Drivers’ and two Teams’ titles in the Formula E championship. DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE is based on a carbon monocoque, two 600 kW (815 horsepower) electric power units and a four-wheel drive transmission.

The front reveals a new area for expression in place of the grille. This treatment shows the DS Automobiles logo in a three-dimensional effect – like a display case – with a special welcome sequence. On both sides, the new daytime running lights combine flair and technology with unprecedented finesse to give a wide span to the lighting. The combination is made up of 800 LEDs. Two cameras positioned instead of headlamps finish off DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE’s visual identity, while enabling the acquisition of useful data for this moving laboratory.

Supporting the aerodynamic lines, the bodywork showcases a beetle-effect interference colour. Depending on exterior conditions and viewing angle, the sense of colour develops and produces a striking contrasting effect with the gloss black surfaces that extend to the bonnet. The 20-inch wheels feature an aerodynamic profile with unique inserts.

The cockpit errs on the side of efficiency. Bucket seats and a Formula E steering wheel give a high-performance feeling. Comfort and attention to detail are also taken into account with the special black leather upholstery insert.

The drivetrain is made up of two electric motors with a total power of 600 kW (250 kW at the front and 350 kW at the rear) corresponding to 815 horsepower and 8,000 Nm of torque to the wheels. Derived directly from DS PERFORMANCE developments in Formula E, these two motors demonstrate exceptional efficiency.

The battery is one of the fundamental parts of the very high-performance DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE laboratory. It’s very small and housed in a carbon-aluminium composite envelope designed by DS PERFORMANCE, located in a central rear position. It hides an innovative chemistry and an immersive cooling system for cells, at odds with current technology. This battery permits phases of acceleration and regeneration of up to 600 kW and enables the exploration of new avenues for future generations of production vehicle.

NICHA alongside DS AUTOMOBILES

For the Concours d’Élégance, DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE will be accompanied by an exclusive design from the fashion house Nicha, inspired by the lines, colours and materials of the DS Automobiles model.

This creation mixes mat and gloss reflections through the partnership of machine-stitched wool and mohair sections adorning the top of the dress (matt effect) with satin silk pieces (gloss effect) making up the dress and the train. The design’s lining is in cupro, the use of this material a powerful indicator of the Nicha fashion house, consistent with its eco-friendly commitment. Another characteristic of this design, the semi-precious stone – serpentine – used in an inlay (along the length of the sleeve and to the level of the bust), with contrasting hints of green and ochre. Serpentine is considered a protective stone which acts like a physical and psychological shield. It provides composure and confidence.

Founded by Charlène Vervoitte as an oasis for responsible luxury, Nicha is a wardrobe of essential, premium articles, made in France, to order and bespoke with special fabrics for a sustainable and ethical approach.

The DS Automobiles range and DS and SM in the Château de Chantilly gardens

The entire DS Automobiles range will be exhibited in the Château de Chantilly gardens, in particular New DS 7, which will make – on this occasion – its first appearance at a large international event.

  • DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE (100 % électric)
  • DS 4 E-TENSE 225 (plug-in hybrid)
  • New DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 360 (plug-in hybrid)
  • DS 9 E-TENSE 4x4 360 (plug-in hybrid)

As part of the show, ten DS and SM models assembled by L’Aventure DS Automobiles (five DS from 1969 to 1974 and five SM from 1971 to 1974) will be gathered together throughout the garden party.

Around 20 VIP shuttles will be available.

DS Automobiles expertise at the heart of Chantilly

DS Automobiles will also showcase its expertise with a workshop run by one of the Brand’s master upholsterers who will work on pieces of leather in front of visitors, an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable work by an incredible craftsman on the high-quality materials used inside DS Automobiles designs.

Lastly the work of applicants to the DS x MÉTIERS D’ART competition will be exhibited. A few months ago, the jury came together in Chantilly – during the DS WEEK event organised for the DS 4 international test drives – to appoint the first winner (Anne Lopez) who produced a unique interior for a DS 9.
