DS Automobiles and PENSKE AUTOSPORT sealed third place in Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E at the final round in London on 21 July last weekend. After 16 hotly-contested races, the Franco-American squad showed its class within a competition that was more closely fought than ever – thanks to the talent of its drivers and the know-how of the whole team.
During Season 10, the DS PENSKE team racked up four podiums (three for Jean-Eric Vergne and one for Stoffel Vandoorne) as well as three pole positions (courtesy of Vergne). All in all, a very satisfying result that perfectly reflects all the hard work carried out since the end of Season 9.
As for the drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne – classified fifth overall at the end of the season – once more made his mark on the history of the all-electric series. Driving the DS E-TENSE FE23, the Frenchman claimed the record for the highest number of pole positions in Formula E (17) as well as the record for the most points scored in the series (1133). Together with his team mate Stoffel Vandoorne – classified 10th in the drivers’ standings – the only two-time champion in Formula E history scored 139 points for DS PENSKE, which ends Season 10 with a total score of 200.
As well as the Frenchman’s outstanding contribution to the team’s excellent results, he also added to the record of achievement established by DS Automobiles. With his magnificent second place in Berlin, the DS Automobiles brand ambassador allowed the marque to overhaul the symbolic total of 50 podiums. This deeply significant statistic only underlines the incredibly consistent performance of the French premium manufacturer: the holder of two double titles in Formula E.
Following a year that delivered plenty of emotions as well as valuable lessons, the team is already preparing for Season 11, which will get underway with the test at Valencia in Spain on November 4. The GEN3 Evo will make its debut for Season 11: a new car that is much quicker and more efficient than the current single-seater.
Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance Director:
“Formula E remains an extremely unpredictable series and the level of competition just gets higher and higher! Once more, the season was very intense, and we had to fight for every single second at every single race to stay with the leaders. Thanks to the performance of our DS E-TENSE FE23 as well as the talents of our drivers and the huge amount of work put in by the entire team, we finished the season on the third step of the podium! That’s a great reward for all the effort that our people have put in and a huge source of motivation for next season. Everyone at DS Performance has been working non-stop for several months in order to come up with a new car that is both quick and efficient. The objective is clearly to give ourselves the best possible chance of doing even better in Season 11!”
