• DS Automobiles is making a splash at the Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l’Auto) with several world firsts and a remarkably young and 100% electrified range.
• DS Automobiles is displaying acknowledged expertise in electrification and refinement with New DS 3 (world first), DS 4, New DS 7 and DS 9 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE (world first).
• Introduced through a stand meant to share the DS Automobiles experience, the site gives pride of place to electrification and the French Art of Travel.

The French Art of Travel: a stand like this surrounded by curtains, marrying contrasting materials and colours with the brightness of wood and black panels for partition walls, with an atmosphere scented with DS fragrance and exclusive atmospheric music from the FOCAL speakers and playlist as well as a specially created ambient light to reveal the E-TENSE range, the DS Automobiles stand is inviting the public to experience the world of the Brand immersively by discovering exceptional designs and a unique understanding of French expertise.

Already unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, New DS 3 makes its first public appearance during the 2022 Paris Motor Show. On its stand, DS Automobiles is unveilling other new things: DS 9 E-TENSE OPÉRA PREMIÈRE, an unparalleled overture, offered as a Limited Edition to show the very best French automotive expertise and an extended zero emissions range, DS 4, with a new very premium specification and, also, an extended zero emissions range, and New DS 7, introduced this summer.

Competition gives rise to innovation: together with this new range, the DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE high-performance, high-tech laboratory and the DS E-TENSE FE21 Formula E single seater are also featured.

The DS Automobiles stand is located in Hall 4 of the Parc des Expositions at the Porte de Versailles. The 2022 Paris Motor Show is running from 17 to 23 October in Paris.

NEW DS 3: WORLD FIRST

Unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, New DS 3 makes its first public appearance at the Paris Motor Show.

The combination of characteristic expertise and avant-garde inspiration, New DS 3 is the successor to DS 3 CROSSBACK, featuring new design and technology.

The 100% electric version, New DS 3 E-TENSE has a new 115 kW (156 horsepower) drivetrain and a new 54 kWh battery enabling it to reach a range of up to 402 km on the WLTP combined cycle and more than 500 km in city traffic.

New DS 3 shows its daring with a unique shape. Its design constitutes a balance between lines and scales. The most obvious developments involve the front. They give a new dynamism and feeling of solidity while maintaining the height of elegance.

The design language of the rest of the DS Automobiles range is applied with a redesigned grille, wider and enhanced with gloss black or chromed diamond tips depending on the model. The identifying DS WINGS have been tweaked to subtly join the grille and headlamps.

The new LED headlamps – standard across the range – introduce a more dynamic design and give New DS 3 a sharper look with three feature modules emphasised with satin chrome. DS MATRIX LED VISION, with intelligent control and automatic main beam for maximum comfort and safety is also offered as an option. The new daytime running lights feature two LED lines vertically arranged either side of the front for a distinctive and widening signature, consistent with the latest DS Automobiles design language.

New DS 3 has also evolved stylistically as well as technically. The new spoiler and grille have been totally redesigned to optimise the car’s aerodynamic performance. The aerofoils framing the lower air intake grille demonstrate this new efficiency.

The attention to detail is also conveyed on the finish of the badges positioned on the grille and the bonnet with the addition of a Clous de Paris embossed insert and a variety of colours depending on the model.

The profile maintains its distinctive signatures, balancing between daring design and technical expertise with the distinctive DS 3 shark’s fin, flush flitting door handles and invisible exterior window seals.

The rear has been refined: the lights and the tailgate are tastefully emphasised with a lacquered black strip. This gets the “DS Automobiles” signature through a unique technology, the letters in polished stainless steel being divided and set one by one in the trim.

The wheels introduce a completely new design for an increase in efficiency. Available in 17 and 18 inches, they are divided according to different themes and colours. In the 100% electric E-TENSE model, New DS 3 is available with new 18-inch TOULOUSE wheels shod with “Tall & Narrow Class A+” tyres.

The driving position has changed with the adoption of a new steering wheel, regrouping controls for driver aids and infotainment buttons and combined with gearshift paddles for the automatic gearboxes. A new 10.3-inch high definition central screen is now offered as standard, with the new DS IRIS SYSTEM infotainment system built in. This solution introduces a completely revised interface that can be completely personalised, is reactive, slick and backed up by natural voice recognition.

New DS 3 is made exclusively at Poissy in the Paris region, with electric or internal combustion engine (petrol or Diesel) versions. The engines as well as the new electric motor and the increased capacity battery are also all put together in France.

DS 4 : INCREASINGLY REFINED SPECIFICATION AND EXTENDED RANGE

For the Paris Motor Show, DS 4 is being shown with a range that’s been upgraded at all levels, particularly through the appearance of the OPÉRA specification, as well as enhancing the specification of PERFORMANCE LINE versions and with new equipment.

Symbolic of DS Automobiles expertise, OPÉRA is enhanced with Criollo Brown Nappa Leather high density seats with watchstrap design upholstery. The front seats are heated, massaging and cooled.

This model sits at the top of the range with a considerable amount of standard equipment: DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION controlled damping, sunroof, power tailgate with hands-free access, laminated front and rear windows, wireless charging and aluminium pedals and footrest.

DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0 is optional with the implementation of new features such as semi-automatic lane changing, enabling lanes to be changed automatically and safely between 70 and 180 km/h with a simple push on the indicator and recommended speed adaptation. The detection of hands on the steering wheel is improved further with a cable embedded throughout the wheel for better usability.

PERFORMANCE LINE and PERFORMANCE LINE + versions assert their character: the DS Automobiles, DS 4 and E-TENSE badges on the grille and tailgate are now Black. The lower door cladding becomes Textured Black.

Plug-in hybrid DS 4 E-TENSE 225 now has a zero emissions range improved by 13 % to manage 62 kilometres in electric mode (WLTP combined cycle) and up to 62 km (WLTP EAER City). This increase is because of improved software control of the 12.4 kWh battery.

NEW DS 7: REFINEMENT IS A JOURNEY

Characterised by unparalleled comfort and electrified power units with up to 360 horsepower, New DS 7 combines technical expertise with elegance.

New DS 7’s character comes from significant changes front and rear. Still elegant, New DS 7 introduces more dynamism with sharper, more structural lines.

The completely new front stands out with sharper lines developing the balance of each feature. Specific work was carried out thanks to the close links between the DS DESIGN STUDIO PARIS team and our production team at the Mulhouse (France) factory achieving exceptional results in terms of quality and solidity.

The light signature is developing for an even more expressive look. The combination of new slimmer DS PIXEL LED VISION 3.0 headlamps and the DS LIGHT VEIL daytime running lights is seamless and accomplished in a high fashion way.

DS LIGHT VEIL is a world first. The daytime running lights were inspired by work carried out on DS X E-TENSE and DS AERO SPORT LOUNGE. The light appears to travel through the bodywork colour. DS LIGHT VEIL is made up of a daytime running light and four vertical luminous parts consisting of 33 LEDs. This innovation comes from the manufacturing process: the laser etched polycarbonate surface is only painted on the inside to give it a look that alternates between light and parts that are body coloured. It creates an effect of depth and brightness like a piece of jewellery. DS LIGHT VEIL lights up and goes out when the car is locked and unlocked.

DS PIXEL LED VISION 3.0 introduces a new technology that adds an extra dimension to the model. New DS 7’s PIXEL modules stand out by optimising the management of light output, while maintaining 3 identifying modules that feature on the entire range. The PIXEL function gives the benefit of optimum lighting. The light flow is more powerful, more regular with a range that’s increased up to 380 metres (main beam). At less than 50km/h, the width of the beam is now 65 metres. On the inner edge: two dipped headlight/sidelight modules illuminate together. On the outer edge the PIXEL main beam module features 84 LEDs in three rows. Lighting in corners is controlled by the intensity of the PIXEL module’s exterior LEDs depending on the angle of the steering.

The DS WINGS have been redesigned with a range of colours depending on the model. The grille is wider and enhanced with subtle diamond-tip highlights and has been finished off with a completely redesigned valance.

The slimmer scale-like LED rear lights with a vortex effect have also been redesigned with a dark metallic finish. They emphasise the unique expression of New DS 7. The boot lid has been reworked with sharper lines, while the “DS AUTOMOBILES” name now signs off New DS 7’s visually wider rear.

The window surrounds and roof bars are offered with a Gloss Black variant emphasising the dynamism of the silhouette.

The infotainment system is one of the biggest changes for New DS 7 with the inclusion of DS IRIS SYSTEM. This solution introduces a totally reworked interface, that’s completely configurable, reactive and seamless and supported by natural voice recognition.

New DS 7 also introduces technology for more comfort and peace of mind such as DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION and DS NIGHT VISION.

DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION is a camera-controlled damping system that’s completely unique in its class. It adjusts each wheel independently according to imperfections in the carriageway. DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION is standard with all E-TENSE powertrains.

With DS NIGHT VISION, an infrared camera sweeps the carriageway and its edges to detect cyclists, pedestrians and animals at distances up to 100 metres. The driver receives the information in the new high resolution digital instrument display, reinforced by a special warning in the event of danger.

New DS 7 is equipped with DS DRIVE ASSIST, adaptive cruise control that can initiate stopping and restarting without the driver intervening and an aid that enables the driver to keep the car either where it is or where they position it in the lane.

Double Formula E champion, E-TENSE technology makes up most of the New DS 7 range with versions having 225 horsepower and two-wheel drive plus 300 and 360 horsepower, both with four-wheel drive.

In its 360 horsepower guise, the Grand Touring spirit is backed up by special developments carried out by DS PERFORMANCE. The chassis has been lowered by 15 mm, the track is wider (+24 mm at the front, +10 mm at the back) and the front brakes go to 380 millimetres in diameter with DS PERFORMANCE-badged four-piston calipers.

New DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 360 stands apart through its class-leading performance with a 200 horsepower petrol engine and electric motors on the front and rear axles with 110 and 113 horsepower (four-wheel drive) with weight kept at 1,885kg for a benchmark power-to-weight ratio in the plug-in hybrid segment.

Coupled with a 14.2 kWh battery, the electric motors enable zero emissions driving in acceleration or four-wheel drive for up to 62 km (WLTP EAER City) and 57 km (WLTP AER combined) with the capability of driving in 100% electric mode at up to 140 km/h. New DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 360 is homologated for just 40 g/km of CO₂ and fuel consumption of 1.8 litre / 100 km

Fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 245/35 R21 tyres, New DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 360 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds with a 1,000 metres start-stop covered in 25.4 seconds.

DS 9 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE: AN UNPARALLELED OVERTURE

DS 9 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE showcases incredible French luxury expertise with an exclusive new interior designed and upholstered by the women and men of the Colours and Materials team and the DS Automobiles master upholsterers, based in the Paris region.

The embodiment of outstanding refinement, DS 9 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE’s interior is adorned with delightful Pearl Grey Nappa Leather over all the dashboard and door panels, interspersed with subtle Pearl stitching. The seats in the iconic watchstrap upholstery are covered with a light Pearl Grey Nappa Leather in keeping with the trim.

Around the sunroof and on the interior of all the door pillars, the Pebble Grey Alcantara® headlining makes for a gentle and tranquil atmosphere, where colours are elegantly matched.

Among the four colours offered, beside Perla Nera Black, Platinum Grey and Crystal Pearl, the colour Whisper makes its debut on DS 9. At once sophisticated and enchanting, this dark alternative reflects subtle hints of violet for a distinctive cloak. This daring, unusual colour absorbs and plays with light to bring to life and enhance DS 9’s sleek silhouette.

Converted in France by the DS PERFORMANCE team, DS 9 E-TENSE 4x4 360 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE represents the ultimate DS Automobiles technology. With a PureTech 200 petrol engine and two electric motors with 81 kW (110 horsepower) at the front and 83 kW (113 horsepower) at the back as well as special settings, DS 9 E-TENSE 4x4 360 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE has first-class performance (0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds, 1,000 metres start-stop in 25.0 seconds) with CO₂ emissions limited to 35 g/km. Coupled with a 15.6 kWh battery, the electric motors enable zero emissions driving for up to 65 km (WLTP EAER City) and 62 km (WLTP AER combined) with the capability of driving in 100% electric mode at up to 140 km/h.

For extended range, DS 9 E-TENSE 250 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE showcases a PureTech 200 petrol engine and an 81 kW (110 horsepower) electric motor linked to a 15.6 kWh battery. Zero emissions range is now up to 75 kilometres on the WLTP combined cycle and 85 kilometres on the WLTP city cycle. CO₂ emissions are rated at 23 g/km with a combined fuel consumption of 1.0 litre / 100 km.

In addition to the equipment already standard on DS 9 RIVOLI +, including DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION controlled damping, DS DRIVE ASSIST level 2 semi-autonomous driving and DS ACTIVE LED VISION turning headlamps, DS 9 OPÉRA PREMIÈRE is supplemented with other standard technology such as DS NIGHT VISION, the Extended Safety Pack, DS PARK PILOT, an electric sunroof with powered wind deflector, the FOCAL Electra® sound system, the DS Lounge Seats Pack and alarm with deadlocking and electric child-proof doors.

DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE: HIGH PERFORMANCE LABORATORY

Conceived as a very high-performance laboratory, DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE was designed by DS PERFORMANCE after winning two Drivers’ and Teams titles in the Formula E Championship.

During its first round of testing, DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE has already covered more than 3,000 kilometres and set a 0 to 100 km/h time of 2.0 seconds! After taking part in the 6^th Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille, DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE received the innovation award, commending its high-tech and design approaches.

The powertrain is made up of two electric motors giving a combined power of 600 kW (250 kW at the front and 350 kW at the back) corresponding to 815 hp and torque of 8,000 Nm at the wheels. Taken straight from DS PERFORMANCE developments for Formula E, these two electric motors display exceptional returns.

The battery is one of the fundamental parts of the very high-performance DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE laboratory. It’s compact and housed in a carbon-aluminium composite envelope designed by DS PERFORMANCE and located in a central rear position. It conceals an innovative chemistry and an immersive cooling system for cells, at odds with current technology. This battery permits phases of acceleration and regeneration of up to 600 kW and enables the exploration of new avenues for future generations of production vehicle.

The front reveals a new surface for expression in place of the grille. This treatment combines the DS Automobiles logo with a three-dimensional effect – such a shop window – with a special welcome sequence. On either side, new daytime running lights combine technology and design with unprecedented thinness to give a wide spanning signature light. Altogether these are made up of 800 LEDs. Two cameras positioned instead of headlamps complete DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE’s visual identity, while enabling useful data to be collected by this rolling laboratory.

To go with the aerodynamic lines, the body introduces a beetle-effect interference colour. Depending on exterior conditions and the angle you look at it from, the perception of the colour changes and gives a striking contrasting effect with the gloss Black surfaces stretching to the bonnet. The 20-inch wheels introduce an aerodynamic profile with unique inserts.

The cockpit is oriented towards efficiency. Bucket seats and a Formula E steering wheel create a feeling of high performance. Comfort and attention to detail are also factored in with the special trim insert in black leather.

DS E-TENSE FE21: A COLLECTION OF GEN2 RECORDS

The first premium manufacturer to commit to Formula E from 2015, DS Automobiles is following the development of the 100% electric series.

The only manufacturer to have competed in every Formula E season since the start of the championship, DS Automobiles made its mark on the four seasons of the GEN2 single seater. With power increased to 250 kW and a 52 kWh battery, DS TECHEETAH lifted two Teams’ titles and two Drivers’ titles (Jean-Éric Vergne in 2019 and António Félix da Costa in 2020). During these four seasons, the team based in the Paris region chalked up a record for wins (10), a record for pole positions (15) and a record for podiums (28) in 55 races, while finishing – every year – in the top three of the Teams’ classification.
