THE 2022 CES: CITROËN EXHIBITS ITS INNOVATIVE VISION OF MOBILITY WITH TWO STRONG PROPOSALS: THE CITROËN AUTONOMOUS MOBILITY VISION CONCEPT AND CITROËN AMI

At the heart of the Stellantis experience from 5 to 8 January at the 2022 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a world-leading electronics, technology and innovation event, Citroën is proud to share its vision of current and future mobility in the shape of two strong innovations: Citroën Skate and Citroën Ami.   Citroën is exhibiting the Skate, part of its bold concept of autonomous and shared mobility, Citroën Autonomous Mobility Vision. The concept combines an autonomous technology platform, Citroën Skate, with pods purposed for a range of services and uses designed by partners (local authorities, service companies). The Skates transport users from one point to another in the city, offering them a singular on-board experience.   Citroën Ami will also be in the spotlight in its playful and sporty My Ami Pop version. Accessible, electric, ultra-compact and agile, Ami responds to new micro-mobility needs, rounding out our range of electric vehicles for individuals and professionals alike.

The Citroën Autonomous Mobility Vision concept and Citroën Ami have travelled to the CES in Las Vegas to surprise and wow visitors by highlighting Citroën’s expertise and innovation relative to current and future mobility challenges.

Urban mobility is changing. To shrink their carbon footprints, major cities are restricting access to the most polluting vehicles. This calls for the creation of relevant sustainable mobility solutions adapted to the needs of users looking for cleaner, safer and more affordable vehicles.

For Citroën, the mobility of the future can be clean, shared, autonomous and connected. The Citroën Autonomous Mobility Vision concept perfectly embodies this philosophy by providing users with bespoke transport with the corresponding experiences and services. Thanks to Citroën, users are no longer required to concentrate on driving; instead they benefit from free time and get to enjoy their travel experience.

Ami is an integral part of Citroën’s electrification strategy. It has carved out a niche in the micro-mobility market by creating a new segment, the two-seater electric quadricycle, boasting ultra-compact dimensions, accessibility (in terms of age and price) and protection. It stands as an alternative to two-wheelers and public transport. Offering a multitude of uses, it can be shared by families when teenagers agree to let their parents take the wheel.

“Moving is an integral part of our social and professional lives, to the degree that our entire environment is structured on the basis of transport. It is vital to prepare now for tomorrow’s mobility needs. As such, electric mobility and autonomous mobility are central to our thinking and technological advances. The new Citroën Autonomous Mobility Vision concept could redefine the framework of urban travel, making it shared, electric, autonomous and connected.

As for Ami, the electric mobility phenomenon has already won over more than 14,000 consumers in Europe since launch in mid-2020 and created a new segment slotting in between two-wheelers and cars. It meets new needs and satisfies a new generation of customers seeking mobility and individual freedom, particularly teenagers and young adults.”

THE CITROËN AUTONOMOUS MOBILITY VISION CONCEPT PREVIEWS TOMORROW’S SHARED AND AUTONOMOUS URBAN MOBILITY

With the Citroën Autonomous Mobility Vision concept, Citroën is preparing for tomorrow’s urban mobility needs and harnessing its technological know-how to boost the well-being of users while respecting the environment and optimising traffic flows in cities.

The aim of this autonomous open-source concept is to free up urban traffic in an inventive way and bring users an original and soothing experience that takes care of all their needs. To optimise urban traffic flows, a fleet of autonomous and interconnected robots, “Citroën Skates”, dissociated from the pods that they transport, will circulate in special lanes seamlessly integrated into the urban landscape. The Skates are mobility vectors enabling the pods, created by various service companies, to position themselves on their platform. Users enjoy 24-7 access to the service of their choice. For example, they can benefit from a relaxed environment to read a book, watch a video, listen to music while sipping a drink, or practice sports while travelling from A to B.

This shared and autonomous solution boasts a host of advantages. It reduces traffic in major cities and, as an electric vehicle, shrinks their carbon footprints. It also proposes multiple uses and is much less expensive than an individual autonomous vehicle.

The dissemination of this approach is based on the optimal use of resources while working on the entire ecosystem, with pods, Citroën Skates, special lanes, and fleet management.

CITROËN AMI, AN ORIGINAL SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY OBJECT WITH GROWING SUCCESS IN EUROPE

Ami perfectly embodies Citroën’s values of innovation, commitment to societal challenges, and the determination to provide zero-CO2 mobility.

The micro-mobility object has created a new segment on the market through its distinguishing features: accessibility (from the age of 14 in France) and price; compact dimensions, which make it easy to drive and park and can comfortably seat two people side by side; simplified charging, in just three hours via a regular 220V socket; and its protective aspect (against impacts and bad weather) and lovable personality.

Citroën Ami is a true popular phenomenon. This is reflected in its large fan base, which has built up in just a few months, composed of customers expressing their views in the social media, talking about best practices and sharing top tips on how to customize Ami. The success of Ami in Europe has exceeded our expectations. Over 14,000 orders have already been placed since launch and 80% of customers are new to Citroën.

This success also owes to an entire ecosystem developed especially for Ami, comprising a fully digital customer journey, from online discovery and purchases through to at-home deliveries and test drives, together with all-new distribution channels supplementing our 200 participating Citroën dealerships, including some 40 Ami-approved Fnac and Darty stores and “ambassador” customers that drive their Ami every day – our 50 “My Ami Superfans” who convey their passion to all those seeking reassurance before confirming their order.
