Poissy, January 28, 2026 – From January 28th to February 1st, on the occasion of the 50th Rétromobile Show, a must-see event for vintage car enthusiasts and collectors, Citroën offers an exceptional and immersive journey through its history, placing design, creativity and innovation at the heart of this anniversary edition. Following an exclusive preview evening organized yesterday, January 27th, allowing journalists and guests to discover the exhibited treasures, the Chevron Brand opens its 512 m² stand to the general public today, in Hall 7.2.
"The brand is proud to return to the Rétromobile Show on the occasion of this 50th anniversary edition, to celebrate Citroën's history of innovation and creativity through concept cars that marked their era: from the 1939 2 CV concept to our new ELO concept, presented here for the first time to the French public. For nearly 107 years, Citroën has continuously reinvented itself while remaining faithful to its fundamentals: meeting individual mobility needs, cultivating closeness with people, and offering comfort and design that are uniquely ours," states Xavier Chardon, CEO of Citroën.
ELO: the small one that thinks big is unveiled to the French public
Presented on December 9th, the ELO concept car makes its first appearance before the French public. A true laboratory of ideas, it embodies Citroën's vision of tomorrow's mobility: compact (4.10 m) but able to accommodate up to 6 people, 100% electric, with a central driver's seat and a 180° panoramic windshield. ELO reinvents the spirit of minivans and leisure vehicles into a modular living space, adapted for remote work, leisure and daily travel.
A journey through time with 7 iconic concept cars
Around ELO, Citroën brings together six concept cars that marked automotive history:
- 2 CV A (1939) - One of four surviving examples from the first series, fully restored, testament to the genius of this iconic model.
- C 10 (1956) - The "water drop" with bold aerodynamic architecture, inspired by aeronautical techniques.
- Karin (1980) - Trevor Fiore's futuristic pyramid with central driving position, precursor to onboard electronics.
- Activa 1 (1988) - Pioneer of heads-up display and intelligent suspension technologies.
- Xanae (1994) - The visionary minivan with swiveling seats, designed for family conviviality.
- C-Cactus (2007) - Precursor of eco-responsibility with recycled materials and sustainable design.
A historic model celebrates 50 years of passion
To celebrate half a century of Rétromobile, Citroën presents, in partnership with the club La Traction Universelle, the unique red 1939 Traction Avant 15-6 Cabriolet 6-cylinder. This exceptional piece, one of only three authentic prototypes in the world, was already exhibited during the very first edition of Rétromobile in 1976. Its return symbolizes fifty years of loyalty and shared passion.
A unique immersive experience at the heart of the Citroën stand
Throughout the journey, Citroën offers a unique immersive audio experience. Through an interactive audio tour accessible via QR Code, visitors can discover the history, genesis and innovations of each displayed concept car. This intuitive and modern approach allows visitors to dive into the heart of 107 years of creativity and boldness, thus enriching the visit experience.
