NEW CITROËN BERLINGO: “WE DIDN’T INVENT THE FAMILY BUT THE CAR THAT GOES WITH IT”

For the launch of New Berlingo, Citroën is rolling out a new advertising campaign. Featuring scenes from family life, this new international film, fully ‘Inspired by You’, shows how the brand’s leisure activity vehicle remains the family’s best friend over the years. The conclusion is clear: “We didn't invent the family, but the car that goes with it.” This new advertising film is scheduled for launch in France on 1 September. NEW CITROËN BERLINGO: “WE DIDN’T INVENT THE FAMILY BUT THE CAR THAT GOES WITH IT”

Founder of the leisure activity vehicle segment in 1996, Citroën is launching the third generation of Berlingo, an iconic model sold in over 1.7 million units. An opportunity for the brand to show that New Berlingo remains the ideal family companion – even more functional, comfortable and high-tech than before – with an advertising film fully ‘Inspired by You’.

Developed with the agency Traction (BETC group), the film takes an affectionate look at the life of a family, turning the spotlight on their two children. We see the brother and sister growing up under their parents’ loving gaze. Over the years, New Citroën Berlingo sets the scene for travel, discovery and squabbling. We see the children experience wide-eyed wonder, reach their goals and simply grow up. The family saga concludes with the wedding of the young girl, now a woman. Her parents and little brother, also an adult, look on with emotion.
In this cleverly made film, New Berlingo is a fully fledged member of the family. Leading naturally to the campaign signature: “We didn't invent the family, the car that goes with it.”
Shot in South Africa, this advert will be shown from 1 September in France, followed by around twenty other countries. This will also be a digital, poster, press and radio campaign with the same signature.

For the sound track, Citroën is confirming its strategy of working with young French musicians. After Part Time Friends (Citroën C3), Blow (New C3 Aircross SUV), Superjava (New C4 Cactus hatch), the music for this campaign is by Un Groupe Français (originally Mr. Crock) with an upbeat pop title called ‘Mr. Crock’.
