Poissy, June 18, 2026 – Citroën unveils the Berlingo Van First, a brand-new version that expands its commercial vehicle lineup with a targeted, accessible approach focused on the real-world needs of professionals. A true strategic asset, it illustrates the brand’s commitment to strengthen its presence in a key segment, while capitalizing on the success of the Berlingo Van, the core model of Citroën’s commercial vehicle lineup, which alone accounted for 52% of the brand’s utility vehicle sales in 2025.

Simple, smart, robust, and affordable, the Berlingo Van First is the worthy heir to Citroën’s proven expertise in the van market, from the 2CV Van to the C15 and the Acadiane. In a nice nod to the past, the Berlingo Van First adopts the same “First” name as the original Berlingo, which shook up the segment with its mono-volume approach when it was launched in 1996, exactly 30 years ago.

A STRATEGIC TOOL TO ACCELERATE CITROËN'S LCV OFFENSIVE

With the Berlingo Van First, Citroën is taking a new step forward in its strategy for light commercial vehicles. More than just a new version, it is a key driver for strengthening the brand’s presence in a commercial vehicle segment that accounts for over 30% of its sales. This launch is part of a clear strategy: to expand the range’s coverage to better address the diversity of professional uses, while consolidating Citroën’s overall competitiveness.

With over 100 years of commitment to professionals, Citroën is driven by a strong conviction: to offer simple, useful, and accessible solutions that are perfectly adapted to real-world conditions. Berlingo Van First fully embodies this approach by complementing the Berlingo Van range with a targeted offering, designed to focus on the essentials without compromising on quality.

A PRACTICAL, MODULAR, AND ROBUST DESIGN FOR EVERYDAY USE

Inside, the Berlingo Van First features a new dashboard and new door panels that give it a more modern, high-quality look and clever storage solutions.

Berlingo Van First was designed as a true workhorse, where every element serves a specific purpose. At the heart of this approach, modularity plays a central role.

The Flexiseat, standard equipment, perfectly illustrates this philosophy. This modular passenger seat folds down to free up to 0.5 m³ of additional cargo space, offering immediate flexibility without complex adjustments or additional accessories. It allows the vehicle to be instantly adapted to current needs.

This offering is based on a precise analysis of usage patterns: professionals drive alone about 80% of the time and do not systematically use a three-seat configuration. Berlingo First does more than just simplify; it optimizes. Every feature is designed to provide direct value to the user, improve their efficiency, and help manage daily costs.

In addition, the Modutable, available as an option, transforms this space into a mobile office. Whether as a computer or tablet stand, workspace, or dining table, it supports professionals in all everyday situations. When not in use, it can be stored directly in the cargo area. The Modutable can be purchased and installed at any time during the vehicle’s lifespan.

This user-centric design philosophy is evident throughout the cabin, which is entirely focused on efficiency, with several other optional features available:

  • Dashbox with closable compartments (available in 2027) integrated into the dashboard and cup holders
  • Moduconsole : a removable center console that can be adjusted as needed
  • Drivedrawer for securely storing a laptop or documents under the driver’s seat
  • Moduwork, a configuration with a center seat that accommodates up to three occupants and, when not in use, transforms into a functional space featuring a closed storage compartment and facilitates the transport of long items thanks to its through-loading capacity.

Every detail is designed to make life on board easier, with intuitive ergonomics and optimized organization. A 220 V outlet is also available for charging a laptop, tablet, or other devices.

On the outside, Berlingo Van First also asserts its character with a distinctive design. Its redesigned front bumper enhances the vehicle’s protection while giving it a robust and distinctive visual identity. This design underscores its purpose: a reliable utility vehicle, built to withstand the challenges of everyday life.

AN AFFORDABLE, COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION SUITABLE FOR ALL USES

Berlingo Van First is part of a lineup designed to meet the needs of all professional profiles, from the most basic requirements to the most fully equipped versions, such as the Berlingo XTR. Positioned as the first-level trim of the Berlingo Van, which now offers four trim levels, it is not a stripped-down model, but a targeted and cohesive offering designed for those seeking efficiency at the best possible price.

This approach translates into a particularly competitive price position, with a lower price than the rest of the range, without compromising on volume (from 3.3 to 4.4 m³) or payload (up to 1 ton), thus providing easy access to a high-performance, versatile vehicle. It directly addresses the budget management challenges faced by professionals, without sacrificing Citroën’s core values: comfort, reliability, and practicality.

Berlingo Van First features a comprehensive range of powertrains, in line with the brand’s multi-energy strategy:

  • A 136 hp electric version offering up to 270 km of range
  • HDi 100 and HDi 130 diesel engines, as well as a mild-hybrid version to be launched next year
  • A 110 hp petrol engine

This diversity allows every user to choose the solution best suited to their business, operational constraints, and energy transition goals.

A NEW CHAPTER IN BERLINGO'S HISTORY

As the Berlingo celebrates its 30th anniversary, Berlingo Van First fully embodies its heritage. As the heir to an iconic lineage, from the 2CV van to the C15, it carries on the same philosophy: offering simple, ingenious, and accessible vehicles capable of meeting the real-world needs of professionals. With this new version, Citroën reaffirms its commitment to remaining a trusted partner for everyone who relies on their vehicle for their daily work. A constant ambition: to make mobility simpler, more efficient, and more accessible.
