THE C3 WRC MATCHES THE PACE OF THE LEADERS

Having rejoined under Rally 2 rules today, Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen confirmed that they undoubtedly had the pace to aim for a podium finish on this tough event, putting together a fine series of three consecutive second fastest times.Khalid Al Qassimi and Chris Patterson also made it to the end of the rally, as their feeling in the car improved throughout the leg. Meanwhile, Simone Tempestini and Sergiu Itu confirmed the extensive potential of the C3 R5 – Citroën's new flagship customer racing product – by finishing as runners-up in the WRC2, securing the car's third podium of the season.

THE C3 WRC MATCHES THE PACE OF THE LEADERS

After two legs that were something of an endurance race, today's final day of racing, featuring just thirty-five kilometres and four stages, was more of a sprint.

Back in action under Rally 2 rules, Mads Østberg once again showcased the speed of the C3 WRC here in Turkey on some of the most demanding roads of the season. He claimed three consecutive fastest times, just a few tenths off the pace on each occasion.

Meanwhile, Khalid Al Qassimi picked up where he had left off on yesterday's afternoon loop. Buoyed by an increasingly good feeling in the C3 WRC and with the car easy to drive, the Emirati driver ended the weekend pleased that he had made progress.

Another source of satisfaction this weekend came from our private Citroën driver Simone Tempestini, who showed both the reliability and very high performance level of the C3 R5 in claiming eighth overall and second place in the WRC2 class. He finished behind a works crew, having grabbed one category stage win and set several top-three times. The result is the C3 R5's third podium in the WRC2, following second and third positions in Corsica and Portugal.

"Today, I adopted a thoughtful approach to my driving, carefully avoiding the stones, to make it to the end. This has been one of the hardest rallies I have ever done. The team finished on a positive note and that's the main thing."
