With Craig Breen in particular producing one of the performances of the weekend, Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT was among the frontrunners in Sweden. Not only did the team secure the C3 WRC's fourth podium finish but it also held onto third place in the manufacturers' world championship standings.

At an event where Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT had been absent from the podium since 2014, Craig Breen and Scott Martin held their nerve on the final leg to finish as runners-up, the best result of their career to date in the WRC. Their performance was complemented by the sixth place of Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen, an especially well-deserved result on their debut in the C3 WRC, whilst Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle made it to the end of the rally determined to fare better in Mexico.

Craig Breen and Scott Martin produced a superb performance – including another stage win – to end today's leg in second place, very much in contention to secure the first podium of the year for Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT! Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen still have a firm hold on fifth place, whilst Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle were forced to retire for the day after suffering a turbo issue as a result of hitting a snow bank.

With two stage wins secured by Craig Breen, Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT was in impressive form on Friday's opening leg. With Breen – Martin fourth this evening and Mads Østberg – Torstein Eriksen fifth overall, the team is still fighting for at least one podium spot, whilst Kris Meeke – Paul Nagle, hampered by their road position, ended the day in tenth place.

The last practice session before this evening's official start, the Rally Sweden shakedown provided Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT with an opportunity to make a few final set-up adjustments. Back in the Citroën squad for this weekend, Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen confirmed that they had got to grips with the C3 WRC quickly as they set the second fastest time, whilst Kris Meeke – Paul Nagle and Craig Breen – Scott Martin also showed good pace, finishing fourth and eighth respectively.

The second round of the world championship and the only event on the WRC calendar exclusively contested on snow and ice, Rally Sweden is something of an exercise in tightrope walking. To bolster its efforts to perform well in Scandinavia, Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT is entering a third C3 WRC for Mads Østberg – Torstein Eriksen, in addition to the usual crews of Kris Meeke – Paul Nagle and Craig Breen – Scott Martin.
