  • A comprehensive, immersive course, split into four: setting driving position, laps on the track with professional instructors, tests on the GT Track, and telemetrics analysis, to transform performance into awareness and speed into true control.
  • Two proposals specially for customers, available in the coming months at the Varano Driving Academy: from the Driving Experience exclusive to Quadrifoglio buyers to the advantageous conditions designed for all the brand's new customers.

The only way to truly get to know an Alfa Romeo is behind the wheel. This conviction resulted in the creation of the exclusive Alfa Romeo Driving Academy event powered by Scuderia de Adamich – dedicated to the European press – which brought together 200 media representatives from 15 countries. Each one was called upon to measure up against the Biscione brand's entire line-up – from the Junior and Tonale to the Giulia and Stelvio, all the way to the high-performance Quadrifoglio versions – to rediscover the factor has always made Alfa Romeo unmistakable, one corner after another: pure driving pleasure.

The experience took the participants along a journey designed to enhance the human-machine dialogue. From setting the driving position properly to laps on the track alongside professional driver-instructors and in-depth analysis of the dynamic behavior of the new Tonale to telemetrics analysis at the wheel of the Giulia Quadrifoglio; Each step has been designed to transform performance into awareness and speed into true control.

After all, Alfa Romeos are made to be driven with visceral passion, on the track as well as on everyday roads. The aim of the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy powered by Scuderia de Adamich is to offer the opportunity to experience this essence in full, because performance as an end in itself, with limited self-awareness, remains mere speed. With Scuderia de Adamich, it is conversely turned into an experience of absolute control and great fun. All this can be clearly perceived from the video made at the event (watch it here).

In the words of Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo CEO: “The enthusiasm of the international press is the greatest possible confirmation of the driving pleasure that has always been Alfa Romeo's hallmark. Our cars are made to be driven and to inspire real emotions in those who sit behind the wheel. And it is precisely in that human-machine dialogue that the heart of the Biscione brand has been beating for over a century. With the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy powered by Scuderia de Adamich, our aim is to offer everyone the opportunity to experience this essence in full, and to feel – one kilometer after another – the true meaning of driving an Alfa Romeo, in complete safety and as pure fun. All this is a source of great pride for us and drives us every day to keep alive a passion that has never stopped since 1910.”

His words were echoed by Sofia Spanou de Adamich, President of Scuderia de Adamich: “I was delighted to welcome to Varano de’ Melegari a sizeable delegation from the international press, together with Alfa Romeo CEO Santo Ficili and his team, for an event at the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy powered by Scuderia de Adamich. As with Alfa Romeo, our Scuderia's international activities are increasing in number and significance, even beyond the Safe and Sports Driving Courses: a pathway the growth of which we want to continue to pursue. After around 35 years in business, our corporate solidity – combined with an increasingly dynamic and international vision – leads us towards dealing successfully with the present and towards confirming our position as a benchmark in the industry, including in the future.”

Two unmissable proposals for Alfa Romeo customers

The international press event comes a few months ahead of the launch of two new proposals intended specifically for customers. The first, the Quadrifoglio Driving Experience, will be reserved for buyers of a new Giulia Quadrifoglio or a new Stelvio Quadrifoglio: a day on the track at Varano de' Melegari, included in the price, in the company of instructors from the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy powered by Scuderia de Adamich. The leading lights will be the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with a single time trial entrusted to the snappy Alfa Romeo Tonale. Created with passion for the most refined mechanics and “pure” driving, the two cars offer a typically Alfa Romeo direct and engaging experience, where every design choice is oriented towards the absolute balance between lightness, structural rigidity and optimal weight distribution, to make a decisive contribution to the responsiveness and precision of driving in all conditions. Specifically, the two cars’ best-in-class driving dynamics are the result of the use of ultra-light materials such as aluminum for the engine and carbon fiber for the drive shaft, bonnet, spoiler, side skirts, dashboard, and panels.

The second proposal is intended for all new Alfa Romeo customers: buyers of any of the brand’s cars will gain access to particularly advantageous conditions for the Advanced Driving experience at the Varano Driving Academy, of course at the wheel of the greatest interpreters from the line-up. To book, simply follow the instructions on the voucher and fire off an email to the dedicated address with the license plate of the vehicle purchased; the Driving Academy team will then offer support to identify the most suitable date.
The heart of the initiative is the Advanced Driving Course, designed to be accessible and exciting for everyone. Exercises remain from the Safe Driving Course, but now enriched with a powerfully emotional component: contests with rankings and final awards, all carried out in complete safety, combined with dynamic exercises and above all the driving of very high-performance super sports cars. The course begins with proper driving setup and a first session of laps on the track, designed as practical application of the concepts illustrated in the classroom. The next stage is the miniskid car, a device that causes the rear to skid at low speed, to be controlled with the correct steering and accelerator management in an exercise that tests technique and precision, with prizes for the best. Also playing a role will be braking modulation, with sessions on the track supported by driver-instructors and an exclusive focus on a range of driving needs, including emergency and modulated braking. The cars can be driven on the track with the driver-instructor on board, to gradually refine settings for cornering trajectories, the use of the accelerator and the right way to take advantage of engine torque and power. Then comes the GT Track, taking place on an artificially wet surface with low-grip areas, to experiment on and leverage the cars’ active safety systems; this section will also include a contest noting the lap time of each participant, and an evocative driving session with telemetrics. At this point, the cars communicate with the pits via a sophisticated system that monitors the accelerator, steering, brakes, and speed, providing a precise analysis of each student's driving quality. From graphs comparing the driver-instructor’s journey to the participant's, special software awards an objective value to the drive – the Driving Quality Coefficient (CQG) – in turn combined with a contest due to end with a prizegiving ceremony. To top off the day, test drives at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and Alfa Romeo 4C, an uncompromising sports car with a dry weight under 900 kg.
