Foiling Week – an international event from June 27 through July 5, 2026, which transformed the waters of Malcesine on Lake Garda into a world stage of high-performance watersports – has just drawn to a close. Alfa Romeo took part in the prestigious event as Official Automotive Partner, confirming the bond between the automotive brand and the world of high-performance boating.
The leading lights were foils, boats or boards that ‘fly’ on the water thanks to submerged wings that lift the hull and reduce friction. It is therefore the benchmark platform for those who experience sailing as a realm of innovation, competition and technological research. Recognized since 2021 as a World Sailing Special Event, Foiling Week is now the main meeting point for the international foiling community. It is the only event that can bring together Olympic athletes, America’s Cup and SailGP professionals, international classes, designers, builders, companies, event organizers, federations and enthusiasts all in the same place, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolution of one of the most dynamic areas of contemporary sailing.
A vision aimed at excellence brings together Alfa Romeo and Foiling Week: two outfits with the ability to transform technology and passion into pure emotion, continuously pushing the boundaries of possibilities in the name of Italian sportiness, on water as well as on the road. This attitude to performance is reflected in the limited Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa series, which the public had the opportunity to admire in the event's expo area. Alfa Romeo also provided a fleet of cars to support logistics and hospitality.
Eugenio Franzetti, Head of Global Marketing at Alfa Romeo, stated: “Water and the tarmac speak the same language, of performance. Foiling Week celebrates those who, like Alfa Romeo, have made an art of aerodynamics and a vocation of the quest for limits: these values have formed part of our DNA for over a century. Whether skimming the water on a foil or sculpting the air in a Giulia Quadrifoglio, it is always the same authentic Italian passion that drives us, transforming technology into pure and visceral emotion.”
Developed as part of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE universe, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa is the most aerodynamically efficient Quadrifoglio model ever, thanks to a low-drag kit in carbon fiber – with appendages on the front bumper, profiles on the bottom of the bodywork, dedicated side skirts, and a spectacular rear wing – that can generate up to five times more downforce than the production version. The exterior is embellished with an iridescent paint inspired by the AC75 Luna Rossa boat, that took part in the 37^ America’s Cup - Barcelona 2024, enhanced by contrasting two-tone black and gray, with the Alfa Romeo logos in red. Inside, the Sparco seats recall the textures of the crew's Personal Flotation Devices and the dashboard is made with original material from sails: a detail that – when stationary – conveys all the synergy with the racing world on the water.
