Round 3 of the season of the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth Certified by FIA did not disappoint expectations and, in the heat at Vallelunga, with air temperatures above 33 degrees and a scorching track that reached degrees, the event goes into the archives with a triple victory for Oliver Bearman, the 7th driver in the history of Italian F.4 to achieve this feat. The 31 Tatuus single-seaters powered by the 160-hp Abarth T-Jet  – strictly derived from the one in the roadgoing 595 and 695 – once again demonstrated the quality of a technical package at the top of world motorsport for 8 seasons.

In race 1 Oliver Bearman made no mistakes and, having started from pole position, he kept the lead until the checkered flag, keeping Sebastian Montoya behind him. On the third step of the podium was Tim Tramnitz (GER – US Racing), having managed to take advantage of a poor start by the rookie Charlie Wurz (AUT – Prema Powerteam) and to pass Han Cenyu (CHN – Van Amersfoort Racing) in the early stages of the race. Among the rookies, Conrad Laursen (DAN - Prema Powerteam) took victory ahead of Lorenzo Patrese (ITA – AKM Motorsport) and Leonardo Bizzotto (ITA – BVM Racing).

In race 2 it was again the Van Amersfoort driver who triumphed, taking advantage of a drive-through penalty incurred by Montoya due to his jump start. The Colombian driver started well from pole but then had to return to the pit lane at low speed, losing several positions. He then opted to withdraw to save the tires for race 3. On the podium with Bearman once again was Tim Tramnitz, while Joshua Dufek (AUT – Van Amersfoort Racing) was third, taking to the podium for the first time. In the rookie standings, a third win of the season for Conrad Laursen ahead of Levente Revesz (HUN – AKM Motorsport) and Maya Weug (NED – Iron Lynx), taking the place of Jonas Ried on the podium due to a 25” penalty incurred by the German driver.

In the last race on the Rome track Bearman once again started very well, but was tailed by Montoya, taking advantage of his fresher tires. In the third lap, a touch between Joshua Dürksen (PRY – BWT Muecke Motorsport) and Han Cenyu, luckily with no negative consequences, forced the red flag to be shown, resulting in a restart. Bearman was also lucky because, despite a puncture, he managed to have a tire changed in the pit lane with no loss of position. At the restart, the Briton managed to stay ahead of the Colombian driver and Germany’s Tramnitz, while Charlie Wurz took fourth in the overall standings and first among the rookies on his debut.

The next round in the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth Certified by FIA is scheduled from July 23rd to 25th at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola, the last round before the summer break, and marks the turning point in the ACI Sport Federation’s preparatory series.
