The Lanterna Rally, which sets off at 8 pm tonight (Friday May 11) from Genoa, is the second round of the Abarth Adler Plastic Trophy, a single marque series open to Fiat Punto Abarth Super 1600s and Panda Kits.
A total of 19 competitors are taking part in the series, with 13 Fiat Panda Kits and 6 Punto Abarth Super 1600s.
After the first event in the trophy, the Alba Rally, the Piedmonstese Andrea Zivian leads the Punto Abarth category ahead of Francesco Dogliotti, whereas the young Sicilian Davide Di Benedetto heads the Panda class, ahead of Ligurian Andrea Zenoni.
The Lanterna Rally is run entirely on tarmac roads snaking through the mountains behind the Ligurian regional capital. The rally consists of ten special stages (all on tarmac), starting with a showcase super-special stage held tonight at 8:30 pm at the Palasport in the Genoa Expo Centre. Tomorrow’s leg starts at 7:30 am and finishes at 9:30 pm after a total of 437 Km, 135 of which timed trials.
