Andrea Kimi Antonelli (ITA - Prema Racing) is the dominator of the second round of the season of the Italian F4 Championship Certified by FIA. The driver from Bologna took the three pole positions, won the first two races on the track named after Marco Simoncelli, and led until two laps from the end of race 3, when his team-mate Rafael Camara (BRA - Prema Racing), passed him at the restart after the safety car and went on to take his second win of the season, which means the lead in the overall standings as well as the one reserved for rookies. It was a difficult weekend for Alex Dunne (IRL - US Racing) who struggled in qualifying and, after finishing third in race 1, was forced to climb from the back of the pack in race two and settle for seventh place in race 3.
In race 1, among the 36 Tatuus F4 T-421s powered by the 180 hp Abarth 1.4 T-Jet engine, it was a close fight between Antonelli and Camara who exchanged positions several times ahead of their team-mates Charlie Wurz (AUT - Prema Racing) and James Wharton (AUS - Prema Racing). In the final it is Alex Dunne who takes advantage of the fight between the Austrian and the Australian, taking the podium. In race 2 it's Prema Racing poker with Antonelli going for the win ahead of Wurz, Wharton and Camara, while in race 3 Antonelli is mocked in the final by Camara who, in the restart after a safety car, manages to take the lead. Antonelli preceded Marcus Amand (FRA - US Racing) at the end of the race, which was red-flagged 2 minutes from the end for a multiple contact involving several cars, but without consequences for the drivers.
Excellent weekend for 18-year-old Maya Weug (NDL - Iron Dames). The Ferrari Driver Academy Dutch driver took a seventh and an eighth place that are worth important points in the standings.
The next round of the Italian F4 Championship is scheduled from 17 to 19 June at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the motor racing university in the woods of the Ardennes in Belgium. Next week, instead, the British F4 Championship will be staged at the Oulton Park track and the Spanish F4 Championship at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo.
