It will be a weekend dedicated to Formula 4 that, from 12 to 15 May, will see more than 50 Tatuus powered by the 180 hp Abarth 1.4 T-Jet engine on track in the three national series of the Brazil, UK and Germany. The British F4 will be staged on the Brands Hatch circuit, in the 1.944 km Indy configuration, while the ADAC Formel 4 will be engaged, for its second round, on the 4,574 m Hockenheimring track. The first season of Formula 4 Brazil will make its debut at the Velocitta circuit in Mogi Guaçu, which with its 3,493m will be the stage to inaugurate the new South American series. The third weekend in May will mark the historic debut of Formula 4 Brazil, the South American Formula 4 series that, in its first season, promises to be immediately of the highest level. 16 drivers will start on the Velocitta circuit, assigned to 4 different teams by drawing.
Among the protagonists of the Brazilian series will be Fernando Barrichello, son of former F1 driver Rubens, Pedro Clerot, who is also involved in the Italian series, and Aurélia Nobels, a 15-year-old Belgian born in the USA and resident in Brazil since she was 3 years old. The Brazilian championship, one of the most eagerly awaited on the international scene, will get underway on Thursday with a day of testing at the circuit in the Sao Paolo region. On Friday, there will be two free practice sessions and the first qualifying session of the season at 5 p.m. On Saturday the first race of 25 minutes plus one lap at 9.40 a.m., while the sprint race of 18' + 1 lap will start at 2.40 p.m. On Sunday at 12.10 the start of race 3, always with the formula of 25' + 1 lap. All races will be broadcast live on the series' YouTube and Facebook channels.
The young drivers of the British F4 Championship, after a first round at Donington which saw the double victory of Alex Dunne (IRL - Hitech Grand Prix) and the success in race two of Georgi Dimitrov (BUL - JHR Developments), arrive at the "Indy" circuit of Brands Hatch with the Irishman at the top of the standings, followed by Oliver Gray (GBR - Carlin) and Aiden Neate (GBR - Phinsys by Argenti). Two free practice sessions on Friday on the British track, while on Saturday at 9.00 a.m. the qualifying session is scheduled, followed by race 1 at 1.25 p.m. and race 2 at 5.10 p.m. On Sunday at 2.50 p.m. the third 20' race will close the second round of the season.
Second round also for the ADAC Formel 4 which, after Spa-Francorchamps, returns to German territory with the Hockenheimring race where the young drivers will try to beat Felipe Drugovich's lap record, obtained with the first generation of Abarth-powered Tatuus, which has held out since 2017. Leading the classification is Andrea Kimi Antonelli (ITA - Prema Racing) who, thanks to 2 wins, 2 pole positions and a fastest lap in the race at Spa is one point ahead of his teammate Rafael Camara (BRA - Prema Racing), author of a win and two second places on his debut. The Brazilian, a Ferrari Driver Academy talent, also leads the rookie classification thanks to his three wins at Spa-Francorchamps. The programme for the second round includes, on Friday, two free practice sessions and a qualifying session at 6.10 p.m. On Saturday at 9.00 a.m. the second qualifying session followed by race 1 at 11.15 a.m. On Sunday the grand finale with Race 2 at 9.15 a.m. and the third race at 1.15 p.m. The races of the German series will be streamed on the series website.
