Now getting going is the 3rd season of the Abarth Rally Cup, the continental series dedicated to the Abarth 124 rally, in one of the rounds of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek picked up the first points at the 77th Rally Poland, while next weekend the challenge moves to Latvian soil. The Czech Republic’s Martin Rada and Jaroslav Jugas will be there at the start, together with the Rallytechnology crew.

The crews will face the 10 special stages of the Rally Liepāja, which includes 179.02 km of time trials and 490.03 of transfer, a total of 669.05 km to be covered on fast dirt track near the cities of Talsi and Liepāja. This route has been well-established since 2019, when roads near the northwestern Latvian city were added to the Liepāja loop. However, several sections of the special stages have been modified since last year with only two PS.7s and PS.10s, which remain unchanged from 2020.

The Rally Liepāja is scheduled to start on Thursday, July 1st at 5:00 pm local time with the 4.61-km Qualifying Stage in the Vārtāja area, a few kilometers east of the city, where the race departure and arrival will take place. The first loop of 4 special stages is on Friday, July 2nd in the Talsi area, while on Saturday, July 3rd, it will be the turn of the 90.92 km over the 6 Liepāja special stages.

The Abarth 124 rally, with gravel alignment, raised by 40 mm and with 15” OZ alloy wheels, will also feature in the ERC2, where in both 2019 and 2020 Scorpion cars took 2nd place with Andrea Nucita and Andrea Mabellini, the first 2 Abarth Rally Cup champions.

The Abarth Rally Cup comes with a significant prize fund: the series winner will receive a grand prize of €25,000. The prizes for each race are: €10,000 for the winner, €8,000 for the runner-up, and €6,000 to the driver coming in 3rd.
