A prestigious showcase, like the "Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours" for the GT category of the Blancpain Endurance Series, is the background to the third round of the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europe. The event takes place at the famous F1 Belgian circuit near Liège and it starts today with the free practices. The program will continue tomorrow, Friday 24th, and Saturday, July 25th, with two races.

For this championship Spa-Francorchamps is a traditional event that involves many drivers. In fact, 23 Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione and Abarth 500 Assetto Corse will compete on the demanding circuit in the Ardennes forests.

The protagonists of that confrontation are the Italian and Scandinavian drivers, which are occupying the top positions in the league. The first four races (two by two at Monza and Mugello) have in fact seen shine the Swede Niklas Lilja (winner of two races), the Italian Eric Scalvini and Finnish Juuso Pajuranta, both of which have achieved one success. The ranking of the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europe sees Scalvini leading the trophy, chased by Luca Anselmi, Maurizio Campani, Lilja and Pajuranta.

The same Italian-Scandinavian duel is also proposed in the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse category, which sees in the top two positions Swedes Robin Appelqvist and Joakim Darbom, followed by Italian Franco Cimarelli.

Thanks to the great competitiveness of the car, powered by a 1.4 T-Jet engine with 215 hp and that adopts a 6-speed sequential gearbox and an adjustable trim, during the races on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps the Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione always gave a great show, running on an extremely high average speed of 150 km/h, with close duels between the drivers on the winding path of the track.

This weekend program offers a free practice session today (Thursday 23rd) at 3.30pm; on Friday at 10am are scheduled the qualifying practices and Race1 at 1.55pm. Race 2 will take place on Saturday with the start at 10.35am.
