Abarth 595 Named "Best Car 2019" by "Auto, Motor und Sport" for the Fourth Time
- After having won in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Abarth 595 won the imported "Mini Cars" category and was the runner-up in the overall ranking overcoming even the fierce German competition.
For the fourth time in a row, the Abarth 595 was voted "Best Car" in the imported "Mini Car" category by the readers of "Auto Motor und Sport" magazine. An exceptional result scored by collecting 30.6% of all votes. Runner-up was the Fiat 500 strong of the record-breaking sales of 2018. In the overall ranking, with 20 contenders in play, the Abarth 595 scored another extraordinary result ending second in the overall ranking with 18.3% of all votes.
"We are very proud that the Abarth 595 has won this important award for the fourth year running. It confirms that our 'little super car' is an undisputed symbol of quintessentially Italian creativity, sportiness and attention to detail and is always highly appreciated by the readers of the Germany magazine 'Auto, Motor und Sport'", declared Luca Napolitano, Head of Fiat and Abarth brands EMEA. "This prestigious win also reasserts the increasing appeal of the brand with the scorpion badge in Germany. This is our second-largest export market and significantly contributed to the sales results of 2018, which was a record-breaking year for us with nearly 23.500 cars sold in Europe and a 36.5% growth. Extraordinary results make us optimistic about 2019, the year in which we are celebrating our 70th anniversary."
Only for 2019 to commemorate this important milestone the Abarth range will sport a celebratory "70th Anniversary" badge which will contribute to making each car even more unique and recognisable. Furthermore, each version of the new "595 70th Anniversary" range will be packed with special new contents.
The 595 range is the evolution of the icon of the brand expressed in various power levels, from 145 to 180 HP and Euro 6D-Temp engines, which respond to the needs of each customer. The Competizione and Turismo versions of the range express the two souls of Abarth - performance the first and style the second. The 595, which with its 145 HP is the Abarth entry level, and the performance-oriented 595 Pista complete the line-up.
The Abarth 595 recently received another award, this time in Switzerland, coming first in the "Mini Car" category of the competition organised by "Auto Illustrierte", the most important automotive magazine of the country, which together with other international publications from 12 countries took part in the 43th edition of the "Best Car" awards expressing their preferences on the 385 cars in contention.
