ÁMSTERDAM Y SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA, 18 de marzo de 2024 – Stellantis N.V. y Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR) han anunciado hoy que Stellantis ha completado recientemente una serie de compras en el mercado abierto de ~8,3 millones de acciones de Archer, lo que indica la continua confianza de Stellantis en los planes de Archer de lanzar al mercado aeronaves eléctricas de despegue y aterrizaje vertical (eVTOL) a partir de 2025. El aumento de la inversión de Stellantis en Archer sigue a la visita del CEO, Carlos Tavares, a la sede central y a las instalaciones de fabricación de Archer en Santa Clara, California.
En enero de 2023, Stellantis anunció que su objetivo era que Stellantis produjera en masa la aeronave Archer's Midnight como su fabricante exclusivo por contrato, lo que permitiría a Archer fortalecer su camino hacia la comercialización ayudándole a evitar cientos de millones de dólares de gasto. La construcción de la primera fase de la planta de fabricación de alto volumen de Archer en Georgia sigue en camino de completarse a finales de este año. La primera fase es una construcción de ~ 350,000 pies cuadrados en un sitio de ~ 100 acres diseñado para respaldar la producción de hasta 650 aeronaves al año, lo que lo convertiría en una de las instalaciones de fabricación más grandes por volumen en la industria aeronáutica.
La aeronave Midnight de Archer está diseñada para ser segura, sostenible, silenciosa y transportar cuatro personas como pasajeras más una como piloto. Midnight está optimizada para viajes consecutivos de corta distancia de alrededor de 20 a 50 millas, con un tiempo de carga de aproximadamente 10 minutos entre ellas.
