Growing, Mopar inaugurates parts distribution center in São Paulo
Strategic location in Hortolândia (SP)
Operating capacity of 2 million parts per month
Post-sales agility by reducing the average delivery time by 34%
Approximately 300 jobs created
Hortolândia (SP) – Mopar inaugurated this Thursday (13) the New Parts Distribution Center in Hortolândia, state of São Paulo. Regarded as one of the country's most advanced centers, the unit is part of the brand's strategy of expanding its footprint within Brazilian territory.
Mopar has invested R$ 15 million in a 42,000m² area to consolidate the Distribution Center, which will create approximately 300 direct and indirect jobs with local workforce. With operating capacity of 2 million parts per month, the unit will supply 400 Fiat, Jeep and Chrysler car dealerships in eight Brazilian states (São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Acre) with parts coming from the United States, Europe and Betim (MG).
In practical terms, these figures represent increased agility, effectiveness and quality for serving FCA customers. “Our mission is to work to deliver parts at the right time and with the greatest possible quality to make people's life easier,” states Mopar director for Latin America, Francesco Abbruzzessi.
The geographical location was the main point for choosing Hortolândia. The unit will be close to the country's main highway routes, with connection to Viracopos airport and Santos port. “In terms of logistics we will be more effective. We will make deliveries within 24 hours in a radius of 800 kilometer. We will cut our average delivery time for dealerships by 34%,” completes Abbruzzessi.
Mopar Parts Delivery Center starts its operations with the World Class Logistics (WCL) methodology already implemented. Comprised of 20 pillars, the WCL is globally used by Mopar to enhance service quality, reduce losses and waste and ensure increased work safety. Moreover, the unit uses the concept known as HomeBase, which is aimed at increasing operation productivity so that orders are fulfilled more quickly with regards to sorting, packaging and shipping.
Hortolândia Center is part of a structure comprised of more than 50 similar Mopar facilities around the globe. The brand offers more than 500,000 parts and accessories for more than 70 million vehicles served globally.
Mopar: 80 years of evolution
Born in August 1937 from the abbreviation of the expression “Motor Parts”, Mopar is celebrating 80 years with a history marked by innovation. The starting point was the trade of an antifreeze product line for cooling systems, and over the years the brand has evolved to include technical assistance, parts and customer service. Today, Mopar serves vehicle owners of all Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) group brands worldwide.
Over the last decade Mopar has opened new paths with several industry innovations, such as the first applications with vehicle information, wireless cell phone charging inside the vehicle and in-store tablet technology connected to the plant via Mopar wiADVISOR. The brand has also developed a series of Mopar limited edition vehicles, starting with the Mopar Challenger 2010. In Brazil, the most recent edition is the Fiat Argo HGT Opening Edition Mopar.
