FCA Latam awards suppliers in 16 categories
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) held the awards ceremony for Latin American suppliers on May 26 in Belo Horizonte. The Annual Supplier Conference & Awards recognizes companies that stand out for their commitment to delivering value with innovation, quality, assurance, and competitiveness, aligned with FCA principles of cooperation, continuous improvement, integrity, empathy, commitment, long-term thinking and transparency.
More than rewarding suppliers, it was a time to align and make commitments, always focusing on value creation. Antonio Filosa, FCA Latam's Director of Purchases, highlighted the developments promoted by the group around the world to strengthen relations: "The market is increasingly challenging, demanding more speed and capacity. We understand that it is important to rethink, reorganize and restructure our operating models and processes", said Filosa shortly before presenting the group's new relationship program with suppliers. Called 4T, the program has as pillars the following key words: Trust, Teamwork, Transparency and Transformation.
"Suppliers are the pillars of FCA's new integration model", he added. Richard Schwarzwald, Quality Director of FCA Latam, also took the stage to pay tribute to suppliers. "More than two and a half million e-mail, more than 330 thousand phone calls between FCA and its suppliers in the last year", he said, showing the scale of communication between partners. "We live in the age of experience. So we have shifted our focus on the customer to the customer focus. This change has a very strong meaning for the final product", said the executive.
For Scott Thiele, FCA's Global Purchasing Director, the move to boost supplier competitiveness is a priority. "We have worked as a global team to update our strategic vision, which we now call 'driving to excellence'", he said, before naming FCA's top priorities in 2017: commitment, cooperation, communication and competitiveness. "This conference is a great opportunity to share strategic points with all suppliers", said Scott Thiele after the award ceremony. "We honor partners who always play a role not only with their best ideas and technologies, but also constantly exceeding our expectations."
The winners were chosen based on an assessment of performance indicators in the last year–a rating system that assesses the supplier performance in areas such as quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership–and on the perception of the FCA group leadership.
