FCA awards Latin American suppliers

For the second consecutive year in the global model, the “Annual Supplier Conference and Awards”, held by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), recognized the companies that stood out in their commitment to delivering value with innovation, quality, warranty, competitiveness, aligned to the fundamental FCA principles: proactive collaboration, continuous improvement, integrity, empathy and advocacy, long-term thinking, transparency, a sense of urgency and personal responsibility. The ceremony that awarded Latin-American suppliers was held Tuesday afternoon (26) in Belo Horizonte.

During the ceremony, Antonio Filosa, President, FCA Latin America, highlighted the importance of suppliers in the new investment cycle the company is starting in Latin America. “According to FCA globally announced new industrial plan, we will have the launch of 25 new models, renewals of products and special series from Fiat, Jeep and Ram brands in Latin America within the next five years. We are counting on you”, said Antonio Filosa to the gathered suppliers.

In addition to the details on the investment of R$ 14 billion in Betim (Minas Gerais) and Goiana (Pernambuco) plants, Filosa pointed out the transformations promoted by the group worldwide for strengthening relationships with suppliers. “The market is growing more and more challenging, demanding more agility and ability to innovate. As quality, to FCA, is an unnegotiable factor, the group’s supplier relations program, presented last year, remains the true north”. That is the 4T whose prongs are the key words Trust, Teamwork, Transparency and Transformation.

Scott Thiele, Chief Purchasing Officer, FCA Global, presented to the 500 attendants a little more of FCA global strategy. “It is important that our supplier meets the commitment we assumed with our investors across the globe and feels part of this process. Therefore, they can understand our needs better for competitiveness and quality for investing in the future alongside us”.

Luis Santamaria, Purchasing and Supply Chain Director, FCA Latin America, joined the stage to open the solemnities and pay tribute to the suppliers. He made a point of highlight the good relationship, pointing out some numbers and advances. “Since the 4T Program implementation, 53 events were held with suppliers and 566 SuPER proposals were received by the VOP – Value Optimization Product team. We also had evolution in the integration of technological processes and advanced manufacturing systems WCM, headed by the SIM – Supplier Integration Management team, at the plant of 49 suppliers in Brazil and Argentina. Just so you can have an idea, there were over 20,000 hours of training with the participation of 2,241 people”, he emphasized.

The integration results are noticed by Max Davis Forte, president, Brose Brasil: “Even in the challenging scenario of last year, given the close relationship with the company and the opening we always had with leadership, we managed to set a path for continue to work together”. Brose was awarded in the Foundation Principles category: Proactive Collaboration.

Richard Schwarzwald, Quality Director, FCA Latin America, reinforced the importance of innovation and collaboration, presenting examples that were milestones in the history of engineering and of the industry. “Suppliers are the pillars of FCA new integration model. Innovation is not only in the great technological feats, it may also be in simple ideas serving to solve a problem or improve the lives of our customers. In order to achieve that, we must always focus on the customer”, he highlighted.

The company Elta Transportes was awarded in the category Supply Chain Management. “Understanding FCA needs in Argentina, we made it viable and built a yard for an initial capacity of 12,000 units – logistics and transportation –, which was expanded to 18,000 (and we already have the capacity to reach 20,000). This is an important acknowledgement that our efforts are being valued”, says Luis Monti, Commercial Director, Elta Transportes.

The winners of the award were chosen based on a 360° review of the performance indicators for last year– a classification system that evaluates the performance of the supplier across all areas of the company, such as quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership – counting on the participation of local and global leadership of the FCA group.

Also represented FCA Latam in the event Breno Kamei (Product Strategy Director, FCA Latin America), presenting details on the new products that will be launched in Brazil, and Isabella Vianna, from the Design Team, who talked about the brands efforts to keep the Italian design present and innovative in the company’s products.
