Leapmotor B05 EV Arriving in Australia: An Expressive New Era for Electric Hatchbacks

1 July 2026, Melbourne VIC – The all-new Leapmotor B05 (B zero-five) C-hatchback EV, arriving in dealerships from late August and priced from $35,990 (Style) and $39,990 Drive-Away (Design LR), introduces a bold new direction in the small EV hatchback segment. Combining coupe-inspired design, rear-wheel-drive dynamics and intelligent technology, the Leapmotor B05 is built for modern urban drivers who seek individuality, performance, and everyday versatility.

The Leapmotor B05 Style delivers exceptional value with up to 401km WLTP^ range and a comprehensive feature set including 19” alloy wheels, frameless doors, LED lighting, and a full digital cockpit. It also includes a 360° camera, integrated dashcam, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and Leapmotor connected services, making it a smart and expressive choice for daily driving.

Leapmotor B05 Design LR enhances the driving experience with an extended EV range of up to 482km WLTP^. In addition, premium comfort features like TechnoLeather seats (certified by OEKO-TEX®), power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats are included. The in-cabin experience is further elevated with a 12-speaker surround audio system, multi-colour ambient lighting, rear privacy glass, and a panoramic glass roof that enhances the sense of space and refinement.

Exterior and interior expressive design

The exterior design is a bold statement of sporty elegance. With its coupe-inspired silhouette, wide stance, and frameless doors, the Leapmotor B05 delivers a confident and athletic road presence. Aerodynamic efficiency is enhanced through features such as an active grille shutter and optimised airflow elements, contributing to both range and performance. With its low-slung profile, frameless doors, and flush door handles, the Leapmotor B05 presents a clean and refined aesthetic. This is complemented by signature blade-style LED headlamps at the front and a sleek, full-width ‘Wing Star’ LED light at the rear.

Inside, the cabin combines premium materials with intuitive functionality. Detailing is highlighted by matte metallic finishes across key touchpoints, including the air vents, centre console and steering wheel, complemented by soft-touch materials on doors and armrests. Automatic climate control and an efficient heat pump system ensure year-round comfort while optimising energy use and minimising impact on driving range.

 A 14.6-inch floating touchscreen and 8.8-inch driver display form the centrepiece of a high-tech cockpit, powered by the LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system. The interior is both spacious and versatile, offering comfortable seating, flexible cargo capacity of up to 1,205 litres with rear seats folded, and 25 smart storage compartments.

A notable feature of the Design LR is the panoramic glass roof that floods the interior with natural light, with laminated protection. Along with an electric sunshade which can be controlled via the Leapmotor App.

Smart technology

The Leapmotor B05 is built around advanced, life-enhancing technology. Equipped with a 7-airbag system (including centre airbag) and 21 ADAS features supported by 14 sensors and cameras, it delivers Level 2 driver assistance for enhanced safety and confidence. In addition to previous ADAS systems, the Leapmotor B05 introduces Automatic Lange Change (ALC), Front Vehicle Departure Warning (FVDW), Front Cross Traffic Assist (FCTA), and Front Cross Traffic Brake (FCTB).

To access key vehicle functions, the integrated Leapmotor App provides remote access to climate control, vehicle status monitoring including live vehicle location and geo-fencing alerts, digital key functionality and more, delivering a connected and intuitive user experience.

The LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system delivers a highly customisable interface, an immersive digital experience, and seamless connectivity. It features split-screen functionality, connected satellite navigation, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip for responsive performance. Convenience is further enhanced with an air-cooled 50W wireless charger, along with voice control and Over-The-Air updates.

Engaging performance

Powered by a high-efficiency electric motor delivering 160kW and 240Nm of torque, the Leapmotor B05 accelerates from 0–100 km/h in as little as 6.7 seconds (Design LR). Its rear-wheel-drive layout, combined with a balanced 50:50 weight distribution and chassis tuning, delivers a dynamic yet refined driving experience. The addition of Launch Control further enhances performance, enabling rapid and responsive acceleration from a standstill.

A key differentiator for the Leapmotor B05 is its rear-wheel-drive architecture paired with suspension tuning influenced by European driving dynamics. This setup delivers precise handling, improved balance, and a more engaging connection to the road, offering a confident and composed ride across both urban environments and winding roads.

To further help improve efficiency, reduce weight, maximise interior space, and enhance overall structural rigidity, the Leapmotor B05 features Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) architecture, integrating the battery directly into the vehicle structure.

Both Style and Design LR support 11kW AC charging and ultra-fast DC charging capability, with Design LR supporting up to 174kW. This enables a rapid 30–80% charge in approximately 16 minutes for Style and 18 minutes for Design LR[1], ensuring minimal downtime on longer journeys.

Compact dimensions and versatile interior space

The Leapmotor B05’s compact footprint makes it ideal for urban environments, while its generous proportions deliver comfort and practicality for everyday use. Measuring 4,430mm in length, 1,880mm in width and with a 2,735mm wheelbase, it offers a spacious interior without compromising manoeuvrability.
