Alfa Romeo Introduces Tonale Series 3 and Sport Speciale Editions, Expanding Premium Offering Across Tonale and Junior

8 July 2026 - Melbourne, VIC – Alfa Romeo Australia announces the arrival of the refreshed Tonale Series 3 with the exclusive Sport Speciale series marking a significant evolution of its premium line-up.

Building on Alfa Romeo’s unmistakable design, performance and Italian craftsmanship, Tonale Series 3 brings enhanced technology, refined interiors and improved driving dynamics, while increasing standard specification across the range. Rosso represents over a century of passion through seductive design and legendary characters like the scudetto, trilobo and teledial wheels. Sportivita channels Alfa Romeo’s racing DNA with a driver-centric cockpit, engaging dynamics and performance cues such as the Alfa Romeo DNA drive modes and red brake calipers. While Italiano reflects Milanese craftsmanship, expressed through meticulous details like double-stitched leather and subtle Italian flag accents.

Exterior Design Enhancements

The refreshed Alfa Romeo Tonale showcases an evolved exterior design that draws on the brand’s rich and iconic heritage. The front fascia has been reimagined with a three-dimensional concave Scudetto grille, inspired by the flagship 33 Stradale, flanked by Giulia GTA & GTAm-inspired intakes adding a stronger character and presence to the Tonale. The Trilobe has also been reinterpreted to enhance the sense of breadth and presence, immediately conveying a confident, road-hugging stance. The lower air intakes further reinforce the brand’s design cohesion, echoing the visual identity shared with the Alfa Romeo Junior.

Proportions have been improved with a reduced front overhang as well as a wider front and rear wheel track. Tonale also adopts new 19” Stile alloy wheels with a design faithful to Alfa Romeo heritage.

New colour options (Brera Red, Monza Green and Sport Speciale exclusive Giallo Ocra) expand the palette, all paired with a distinctive two-tone black roof, giving customers more ways to personalize their Tonale.

Interior Refinement

Inside, the cabin receives a redesigned centre console with a rotary gear selector, revised material finishes and the availability of premium red leather accented upholstery for a more refined and contemporary feel. Alongside the column mounted aluminum paddle shifters and steering wheel mounted start button Tonale commands the unique ability to excite anyone who gets behind the wheel.

Powertrain and driving dynamics

The Alfa Romeo Tonale Series 3 offers two advanced electrified tailored powertrains. The Ibrida pairs a four-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with variable-geometry turbo technology and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering a combined 128kW through its front-wheel drive system, representing the latest evolution of the brand’s 48V hybrid technology. At the top of the range, the Ibrida Plug-In Q4 features electrified all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 198kW of combined power and offering up to 54 kilometres of all-electric WLTP driving range .

Both powertrains have been refined with this refresh, adopting refined Hybrid Control Processors, making power delivery more prompt, linear and continuous. The transitions between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor are now virtually imperceptible, marking a more comfortable and responsive driving experience.

Further enhancing driving dynamics and refinement, the new Alfa Romeo Tonale Series 3 benefits from an augmented, wider wheel track designed to reduce body roll and understeer, improving stability and responsiveness.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale Series 3 continues the brand’s focus on delivering a distinctively engaging driving experience. The Tonale’s distinctive handling is defined by a near perfectly balanced chassis with optimal weight distribution, independent McPherson suspension with a sporty calibration at both front and rear, four-piston Brembo brakes, and the some of the most direct steering in its segment, with a ratio of 13.6:1.

These fundamentals are enhanced by advanced technologies, including Dual Stage Valve (DSV) electronic suspension, delivering an ideal balance between comfort and dynamic performance. Further innovations—such as the brake-by-wire system derived from Giulia and Stelvio, and Q4 all-wheel drive on the Plug-in Hybrid—ensure outstanding stability and responsiveness.

For Series 3, the Alfa Romeo Tonale range is streamlined to Veloce trim, with features from the Lusso Pack now standard across both Ibrida and Ibrida Plug-In Q4 variants. These now standard features include:
